What a difference a year makes: Chilling satellite maps show how it was an incredible 31C hotter this time last year - and it'll stay cold for the next fortnight
Astonishing Met Office satellite maps compare March 2012 to March 2013
Aboyne, Aberdeen, hit 23.6C high on 27/3/12 but -12.9C low on 11/3/2013
High pressure influence last March gave us clear skies and plenty of sun

Hello all!
Its snowed off and on since last night here, but thankfully didn't lie. Flipping freezing wind blowing about, so am sitting with the heating on!
Home alone again for dinner, will have some soup, which DD texted me earlier to say was good, and root out something on toast or a wee pudding for after it.
Can hardly keep my eyes opened just now, do I risk a disco nap I wonder????????RIP Iain

Hi everyone - help needed please
I am wondering if any of you know a cheaper alternative to the famous stain remover - I need to remove stains from one of my babs baby grow the joys of weaning and I have ran out of said product (bought before my conversation) - is there an effective alternative or do you wait for an offer. Sorry for the newbie question but I did warn you I had a lot to learn and boy do I want to learn.
Is it wrong of me to be enjoying this changing lifestyle - its nice to feel less a slave to commercialism and satisfying to do things yourself.
thanks for your help in advance

Not a clue, I don't go near washing!
Women's work that is.
But I do know Vinegar is very good for many cleaning Jobs. We have a book about it somewhere. You would not believe the things it can be used for.
Now not all Vinegar Is the same. You would need to use the clear stuff on stains and for cleaning not the malt you out on your chips.
Apple Vinegar has many health use's .:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

There are other Books about Vinegar,
But that's the one we have. Its one of them book that sits there and dose nothing until one day you think about it and have a flick though it and learn something new.
Good Subject to have a book On. But the book will not get used a lot. Just handy to have about.:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Lottiesmum I can't help much with the stain question - I never had children, and Mr LW is an IT professional, so I don't get stained work gear to deal with; I do actually keep the tag ends of his shaving soap (he uses an old-fashioned stick soap) for pre-treating anything marked, but I suspect your stains are worse than I deal with.
However, I agree, there's something very satisfying about refusing to spend silly money on products you don't really need when you know a few tricks.
Re vinegar - I use white vinegar to clean windows, mirrors and the acrylic shower screen, and I actually recycle the vinegar out of pickled onion jars to keep the limescale in the loo at bay!:D
I noticed a bit of limescale round the bath plughole earlier - a dash of second-hand pickled onion vinegar and a few minutes with the green scrubby thing, and the limescale is no more; and that's with my poor arthritic paws!:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Evening
Just time to post before dinner of pie, mash and veg. Been another busy day, met friend before work for quick cuppa and catch up. Work was manic again, everyones gone mad these last couple of weeks. Was going to cycle as sunny before I left, weather warned of thunderstorms so took the car and its been lovely all day .
Even managed to get out the front and do some much needed weeding. DD phoned, she is coming home for Easter hols :T, be lovely to have her back. she will get train and I will take her back.
OS WM been on, washing now on airer, DW also been on, DS will empty after dinner. Made some more crumbs for freezing with LO crust and slice in bread bin, have half a bag full now.
Thoughts to all.Thoughts to all. Mrs D.
