A bad cold is just that - a bad cold which will affect you for about a week. Should you not attend your interview, you will be sanctioned - and such a sanction will affect you for a lot more than a week!
Fill in the forms by all means - but don't hold out much hope for a good result.
If you complete the JSA28 your money will be paid on the day they receive it, you will not be sanctioned, do not listen to above poster...:TSkint but Debt Free at Last :T0 -
actually, what we were told was once we had been taking the antibiotics for 24 hours we were no longer contagious... and scarlet fever, like so many other childhood diseases is actually catching before they show signs of symptoms!
Just to come to Elzmumof3 defense, that is correct medical advice and what my daughter was told too. As a matter of fact, the doctor said that by the time I had taken her to the doctor (because all her symptoms initially pointed to a throat infection, nothing more), she probably wasn't infectious anymore and that there was no reasons for her to stay home longer than 24 hours.0 -

, I'm sorry Elzmum, all I can say is the advice must have changed since my son had it when he was 4 (8 years ago) we were told that we must not take our son out until his temp was normal and to phone the the surgery for an urgent appointment if myself, my husband or daughter developed similar symptoms.
I personally still wouldn't have dragged myself to the JC when that ill though, if you had it anywhere near as bad as my son did I'm surprised you were even able to talk after just 24 hours of antibiotics. I had tonsillitis that turned into quinsy a few years back and was so ill I was hallucinating. I phoned and said I couldn't get in to sign on and they were fine about it, sent the form which I when I felt up to it filled in and my JSA payment was paid a few days later.0 -
If you do not attend then I hope they stop your payments for good.
Would you expect to have time off a real job because of a coldOwing on CC £00.00 :j

Yes... I have never had a job without sick pay.if you were working and didnt attend work due to 'a bad cold' would you get paid?
I would go anyway though. I imagine I would be rubbish in the interview as my concentration goes when I'm ill (and I don't have much to begin with) and they would never offer me the job but at least I could say I followed the rules.0 -

My OH was due to sign on last Monday but couldn't leave the bathroom thanks to a nasty tummy bug. He rang and they said as long as it was within 5 days he could just turn up and sign on. He went in on Wed, signed on and got his money 3 days later as usual. No word of sanctions or forms to fill in.2013 wins: Persil Bunny0

If you have informed them you wont be attending because of illness they should send you a JSA28 form in the post with a deadline date to return it. They cannot sanction you for being ill - only if it is your third period of sickness in a rolling 12 months - your illness must be for 14 days or less to to satisfy the JSA conditionality. Your benefit will not be released until you return the JSA28. Call them again in the morning and request this form, alternatively they could re-book your interview for a couple of days time if you feel you will be well and you can complete the form at this interview.
Hello mate. Followed your advice. Phoned them in the morning after no sleep at all due to this cold. They said if someone could collect the form from the job centre and hand it back in today my money would be paid as normal. Got my brother to do it. Thanx again for your advice. :money:0
