Hi. Ive had a really bad cold since friday and its still as bad as ever. I have to sign on tommorow and i dont see it getting any better. Ive just phones the jobcentre and they were quite blunt saying if i dont come my benefit will be stopped. So does anyone know what would happen if i dont go? Thanx.

You've rang the Jobcentre and they've told you what will happen. Do you have reason not to believe them? You have a cold, suck it up and attend the interview, it'll be over before you know it."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

If you have informed them you wont be attending because of illness they should send you a JSA28 form in the post with a deadline date to return it. They cannot sanction you for being ill - only if it is your third period of sickness in a rolling 12 months - your illness must be for 14 days or less to to satisfy the JSA conditionality. Your benefit will not be released until you return the JSA28. Call them again in the morning and request this form, alternatively they could re-book your interview for a couple of days time if you feel you will be well and you can complete the form at this interview.Skint but Debt Free at Last :T0
