Item not received but sent via special delivery

I recently purchased a mobile phone from ebay for £100 but never received it after 7 days. I emailed the seller who informed me the item was sent by special delivery and he gave me the ref number.

It turns out the item has been signed for but not by me or at my address. What has happened to my item and how can I go about getting my money bck, the seller seems genuine.

The Seller must put in the claim from Royal Mail.

Be warned that it takes them forever to sort it out.

I just had a claim paid out which took Royal Mail four months!

As above, I would file an item not received dispute with paypal.

About a month ago I had a Seller claim she sent me an item RD and gave the number, which didn't exist! Paypal refunded me on this after about a week.

When I enter the tracking number it does exist and states when the item was supposedly delivered.

Something definately smells fishy, I paid £8 P+P on the item will I be getting that back?

It could be a dodgy seller, dodgy postie or the postie delivered my item to the wrong address.
  • the best thing to do is contact the seller again, ask them to show u a scanned image of the special delivery slip they have. if they can do that and that slip has your address on it with a matching reference number that they supplied you with then the seller is all clear.

Rang Royal Mail but it is all automated and they claimed item was delivered on such and such day, well it wasn't as I was home that day.

Would paypal refund me if the item ref number claims it was delivered?

You could start by going to the royal Mail site:
http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?catId=22700538&mediaId=22700586 - tells you all about getting copies of names/signatures etc. & the procedure for non-delivery

You need to take this one step at a time and it would be best if you could sort it locally.

First thing is check it was delivered from the correct sorting office, pointless chasing it up it was delivered to a Kilmarnock (KA) address and you live in Bath (BA), if possible find the signature/name on the website and hopefully it might be a neighbour.

I would then visit local sorting office and ask there, you will probably have to come back as manager will need to ask the postie on the route.

If no joy start working with seller to resolve the issue.
  • Did a friendly neighbour sign for the package?

Have you got the tracking number?

You can check on the Royal Mail's website.

    http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/track

Sometimes it even shows you a scanned copy of the signature (if available)

Start with your local sorting office and find out who signed for the parcel.

    Then take it from there.
