Bought used car yesterday ....problem
Bought a car from a used car dealer yesterday ,there was a cresent shaped mark where the window wiper operates .I didn't think anything of it at the time as it was raining and thought it was a smear / water mark ,turns out it's a scratch caused by the window wiper ! .
Do you think i would have a cause for a complaint ? if i complain would they replace the screen? .The car is a picasso cost 3,000 .
The window screen was not mentioned at point of sale
Thanks

Is it bad enough to cause an mot fail?
If yes then I'd expect them to stump up or take it back. If no then you don't have so much to go on as it is used as you did get an opportunity to look at it before sale. They don't appear to have falsely advertised it.0 -
I would certainly say it is in the line of vision ( just looked up the mot handbook) it's huge right across the window screen .I feel such a wally for thinking it was just a dirty screen .Thanks Colin0

So you had time to inspect it and didnt spot it. A new screen is only £75(ish) on the insurance so I think thats your best option as I doubt the dealer will do anything.
No harm in asking though.0 -
Would it effect my no claims discount if i claimed for a new windscreen ? I know i should have noticed it but it really did look like a smear .Thanks for reply0

It won't normally affect your NCD but it may well affect your premium. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

When you test drove the car, it was right in front of your face for the whole time. I don't think there is any obligation on the dealer to repair it. If it's not too bad, it may be ok for the MoT.0

You can ask , but he'll refer you to your insurance if you want it changed. You saw it, it wasn't concealed and you went ahead with the purchase.0
