Cool :) What did you get told about HD channels though?

You mean like the HD subscription?

Let me guess. The original box had a faulty power supply?

Yes. Usually the free box/install is on the basis that you have HD subs on your account for 12 months. Don't want to scare you, offers change all the time so it may be that you were eligible for what's called a Sky+HDx box, i.e. eXcluding HD. I would double check.

Either way, were you advised the new box would be a new 12 month contract?

The woman said i don't have to take out HD subscription as long as i just carry on with my original subscription for the next 12 months.

The power supplies are internal in Sky boxes.

They're also notorious for failing and producing errors like the one you describe.

Oh I thought you meant a power lead. Oops :o
  • just out of curiosity the no sat signal is it on every channel ?? as one thing that can fail is the lnb box and it effects abouit half the channels when it does. something o do with signals either being vertical or horizontal and the thing that picks them up in the box. anyway cost me about £12 for a new box on ebay and a quick trip up me ladder and it was done.

Yeah it's on every channel. I don't fancy trying to fix it myself by messing with the dish and going up ladders. I'm useless when it comes to diy lol:rotfl:

btw i have just discovered my living room tv has freeview built in... had it 3 years and only just noticed lol :o

I just did auto tune and it's only picking up 8 freeview channels. I'm confused i just went to the freeview coverage website and it said i should be getting about 50 channels
