We are doing an ensuite at the moment, and bathroom to follow.
Bought toilets, sinks, bath, taps, 2 x very nice showers, shower tray 800 x 800, shower cubicle, plus shower screen for over bath, and all the tiling, floor to ceiling (both not particularly big rooms 10x10 and 8x6 or so for less than £4K from Porcelanosa
Found local builder whose quote is £3600 to fit both, including tiling, lighting (he supplies), rads, plasterboarding, and hiding the awful boxing of prev plumbing. Seems like a good deal, we are in the Midlands.0 -
New to this board but recently bought a house and having lots of work done to it!
Our bathroom is 2.2m x 2.05m. We are having a bath, wc and basin taken out plus the tiles ripped out and wallpaper strippepd. We are then replacing with a large shower, tall (thin) cupboard, new WC, basin, heated mirror, spoltlights, heated rail. Parts are £2.1k exc wall and floor tiles (which we haven't fully decided yet) and will just paint the non-water affected areas (rather than tile).
We live just outside of st ives in Cornwall and have received quotes of £3k / £4.1k for all labour work (naturally we have already declined the £4.1k). Sounds a lot to me especially when they said they expect it'll take 5-7 days for two of them I make that roughly £200 per day per person after the bit of accessories they'll need (and I suspect the apprentices/young assistants they both have will be on £100 a day max meaning £300+ for the main fitter). There is a bit of piping work involved; we need the soil pipe moving from one corner to the other (still staying on the outside wall mind) but nothing particularly major aside to this.
The earliest possible fitting is not until July either. I'm guessing the reason they are so busy is why the quotes are so high, should I try for more quotes or just accept £3k is as good as it'll be in SW Cornwall? I don't really like dragging too many people to do quotes as I appreciate its wasting a lot of peoples time0 -
That seems strong!! Similar amount of work done my end a few years ago was £1500. One man band but he was great.0

My husband is doing all you described in the first post this week, customer is supplying all sanitary ware, tiles, materials etc, labour is £1,000.

Thanks - that's useful to know, I'll continue looking for other quotes0
