Do you actually pay to park in car parks?

I have stopped paying following the info given here. If you can't beat them and all that.
Never park in disabled bays though.
I have to say that with you having over 14,000 posts on here and after 4 years of experience with the ethos of this site, I am a bit disappointed with this post, if you are being serious and not just winding the regulars up.
You should be better than that by now.

You see, I don't get this. You have tens of thousands of posts, an even higher amount of thanks, and yet you come on here every fortnight and lie openly about the advice you've been given.
Anyone would think you had a hidden agenda or something...Je Suis Cecil.0 -
I did not know that the penalty notices were just speculative invoices until I read it on here. As that is the case, what is the point in paying to park?
Who has said penalty notices are speculative invoices ? More lies I see troll, don't try and deliberately confuse the issue between parking charge notices issued by the private parking companies and penalty charge notices issued by councils. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

I am being completely honest, I always used to pay but now feel that it is a bit of a mugs game. Oddly enough if I go to some places where it says payment is voluntary and the proceeds go towards update and facilities (country parks etc) I always pay. Hospitals and supermarkets are now a different matter.0 -

OK, taking you at face value, there is a clear distinction on the advice here.
Pay and Display tickets etc that are a reasonable charge for a service given are exactly the same as bus fares, cinema tickets etc and any honest person who wants to avail themselves of the service should pay.
Huge punishment charges are another thing altogether and these are the charges that you are being advised to ignore because of the amount by which contraveners are being asked to pay.0 -
The official parks which are covered by councils etc I always pay. I have just stopped paying at the ones administered by private parking companies.Who has said penalty notices are speculative invoices ? I think I have got enough info off here to make a judgement as the where I need to pay and where I do not.0 -

If that is the case you are perpetuating the problem, and depriving the landowner who is very often not the parking company out of money. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

That's your choice, if you want to behave unreasonably no one on here is going to be able to stop you.
Just cut out the b*llsh*t part about 'following the advice on here'.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
The advice on here does say that in most cases the "penalties" or charge notices are just speculative invoices and that is the limit of the parking companies powers. if that is the case then the fees are purely voluntary. That's your choice, if you want to behave unreasonably no one on here is going to be able to stop you.

Not sure what your point is as I stated I do pay when I feel it is morally right to do so.0
