thank you for the good pointers, lots of useful info in all the posts above :)
Not pleased that only bt and sky give unlimited bb, but useful to know nevertheless.

Have you checked their fair usage policys, as unlimited normaly has a catch
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I quite regularly abuse my broadband, GBs a week, I'm with sky at the moment and they don't bat an eyelid so, who I go with would have to be the same.

I checked as much of EE's t&cs as I could find and nothing anywhere said fair usage or traffic management. Just the usual 'if your area gets busy don't !!!!! at us', so seem okay.

plusnet look the best atm. £38 cashback, cheaper line rental than sky and if you pay in one go it's even cheaper. I just want to be sure before moving because I'd kick myself if something was out and better and I didn't notice it.

I'm really interested in this deal shown by Mikef

    Topcashback are offering 200 pounds
bt are giving a sainsburys 100 gift card when you sign up

You have to buy a cordless phone to get the deal but if you pay the line rental up front and pick the cheapest cordless it works out at

20.05 a month including line rental and evening and weekend calls

    full breakdown

    upfront line rental £170.94
    upfront cordless handset £34.99
    delivery £6.95
    month 1 £20.00
    month 2 £20.00
    month 3 £20.00
    month 4 £26.00
    month 5 £26.00
    month 6 £26.00
    month 7 £26.00
    month 8 £26.00
    month 9 £26.00
    month 10 £26.00
    month 11 £26.00
    month 12 £26.00
    month 13 £26.00
    month 14 £26.00
    month 15 £26.00
    month 16 £26.00
    month 17 £26.00
    month 18 £26.00
    total £662.88

    gift card -£100.00
    topcashback -£202.00

    £360.88

    monthly cost £20.05

but is BT any better than TT ? Although I've haven't had any problems with TT so far. I'm looking for unlimited and fibre. The new BT phone app and wifi could be useful too..

Is there anything else I should look out for, like exit fees after the 18months contract? I can't seem to find any info.

How are you getting on with your BT transfer Mike? Not sure how you got the line rental as £170.94 as I make it £193.50 (£10.75 per month x 18 - no probs but am I missing something).

Try xilo or aquiss i am going to give Plusnet a go via quidco on a monthly contract, and if that does not work out i will give xilo a go!

I had never heard of xilo or aquiss, I'll look into them, are they reliable? That is my highest priority

Reliability is not really an issue primarily under the ISP's control. The main cause of you losing your connection is probably not going to be an ISP-specific issue, It's going to be a fault at the exchange, or some bloke putting a pickaxe through your cable when mending the road.
Either way, it's BT OR who will fix the fault (or not). Not under the control of your ISP.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
