I also cancelled my order.
This is this biggest mistake many people make when goods do not turn up, and a company starts on the excuses.
Non reciept of goods is nice and easy.
Non reciept of refund. Is not.....
It requires a refund reciept.
ie. We rip off merchants have refunded Poor sod £0.00 on 12/never/ever to card end 1234....
Now try and get that information out of a company that knows how the regulations work, and the timescales.:mad:Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
I wish so much I read all of these yesterday
ordered a 32gb ipad mini from simply electrics for £319 thinking I was getting a bargin, but after reading all this am now wished I had just paid the extra! My alarm bells started ringing when they sent me an email asking me to send proof of billing address by sending a copy of a recent utility bill (my hubby is self employed and buys stock off the net all the time and has never been asked this) I have cancelled the order and we had paid it on the credit card so hopefully will be covered. They have said it will take up to two weeks for the refund so if I've not heard anything I take it I just chase it with the credit card company? So annoyed with my self as my present to myself using my 30th birthday money!:(

Did you cancel the order before and after reading these posts?
You may have just elongated the whole process.0 -
I cancelled before reading these, I read a few nightmare stories on another site so cancelled and also called the credit card company to see if I could stop the payment (which I couldn't) They sent me a email saying the order had been cancelled and that the refunf would take up to two weeks. I suppose it is just a waiting game now to see if they refund it in that time?0

Just a quick up date on this one, this morning I checked my credit card balence and the money has been refunded back to my card. Luckily its only taken a week since the order was cancelled. I still would never use the company again as far to many horror stories, but for me they have been pretty quick with dealing with it. I hope you all get your orders/refunds asap. Claire x0

I ordered a mobile phone as gift for my husband on 10 June 2013 from Simply Electronics with a promised delivery of 5 - 10 working days. This time passed and I chased the order kept being fobbed off. Eventually, on 5 July I cancelled the order. I had an email by return asking me to reconsider and they would include a free All in One Card Reader. I sent an immediate reply stating that I still wished to cancel the order as I going to be away for a week.
Lo and behold later the same day I received an email stating the mobile phone had been shipped. By this time I had gone away and received a further email stating that they would contact the courier service and have the package returned to them.
A few days later I picked up a further email received whilst I was away from home stating that the parcel had been delivered! They had tried to deliver twice but no one at home and rather unusually made a third attempt and my daughter happened to be at our home feeding our cat and signed for the package. I have never known a courier service make more than two attempts at delivery.
On 15 July I receive a further email from them apologizing for not getting the parcel delivery cancelled and providing details for me to have the parcel collected.
The parcel was collected on 18 July and on 23 July Simply Electronics acknowledged receipt of the parcel stating that it would now take a further seven days for me to receive my refund.
My credit card company state that I have to wait up to 30 days from collection of the parcel for them to be able to take the matter up on my behalf and I suspect that Simply Electronics will effect the refund just inside this time limit. However, I will keep you posted and I hope that I will be pleasantly surprised.
Simply Electronics took the money on the date of the order (10 June) whereas companies normally only take payment at the point of shipment of an order.
They have now had my money for 37 days and if this is repeated with many other customers their bank balance probably consists mostly of other people's money awaiting refund.
It is not worth the hassle of a cheaper price to deal with this company. I shall continue to kick myself over even dealing with them and would urge others to take think carefully before ordering from them.0 -
Quick update, I now have my refund. Phew!
They had my money for six weeks!
However, in case anyone reads this blog after ordering and returning goods involving Simply Electronics, they do refund but they just take a long time.0
