Why not register with bt.com for online bills, services etc, then use their beta sms service at https://www2.bt.com/smsbeta/?com.bea.event.type=linkclick&oLName=link.searchresults&oLDesc=KB_818? You get fifty free sms per month, and the message appears to the recipient to come from your own mobile number.

Handy if you have a BT landline.

For me without any landline, I use broadband and VoIP (cable) I still find VoIPBusters free SMS service pretty good (various countries free, however only the country you are registered will be free, if you register in the UK then it's UK SMS that is free), also the SMS Discount service from 1c per text. These you can either have the messages appear to come from your mobile or from a username.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

http://www.smsdiscount.com/en/index.html send from 1 (Euro) Cent.

http://www.voipbuster.com/en/newsflash.html#news0 are free to your own registered country, have just tried and they are still free, though you do need credit.

Hi all, after using all the information on this thread which I started a few days ago. I have to say thank you all for all your input and it is a great community indeed. I have found the infomation very informative indeed. So far, the best sites for free International SMS is https://www.SMS.ac and https://www.voipbuster.com.

The Trick with VOIP is this: you download the software you get free 10 SMS messages to anywhere in the WORLD after that you need to have credit to send more, but since we are all "FREE" Addicts here to get another 10 free sms from the application, This is what you do: (1)You UNINSTALL THE SOFTWARE from your machine from ADD/ REMOVE programmes. (2) you do a SEARCH on your C drive for " VOIP" any file or folders that you find that has the file name "VOIPBUSTER" you delete that file and folder. So that when you do a search there should be no such file on your systerm. (3) for the Techies you may have to do the same from your Registry as well - Note- be carefull when entering your registry. If you are not sure. Leave option 3 out.

After all that, Restart you PC and Reinstall the SOFTWARE AGAIN, use a different user name this time and a phoney Number if you wish and you will get another 10 Free SMS TEXT to send. Once your Ten free sms is up, you can repeat the process again. This will also work with VOICECALLS on the software Too.

Good Luck and MORE POWER TO THE PEOPLE.

The Key here is INTERNATIONAL SMS to other countries that is the MAIN BONUS.

There are many free National SMS sites but NOT INTERNATIONALY and RELAIBLE as BEING FREE TOO!!

    Thanks.

Just goes to show that you shouldn't believe everything that you read.

You'll need a mobile telephone number to register with O2. For ten domestic text messages per month, I wouldn't bother.

...can i ask others about this one. does the recipient (or the sender) get charged for sending/receiving these texts? (i don't need to send internationally, just locally). does this company have any 'catches' like attempting to send the recipient competition prize nonsense etc. thanks all :)
