Oooo, tell me more about your pump, as im on with my mothers garden at the moment, and she has the same problem.

The pump cost about £45 if I remember rightly. It has a float so when the water rises to a certain level the pump fires up. We dug a hole and sunk a plastic bin into it to house the pump. Then we bought a length of flexible pipe ( about £20) and fed straight into the drain that the sink/ washing machine/ dishwasher drains into.

It works but it's only a temporary measure. It looks ugly! all wires and pipes everywhere. Although I suppose you could sink the pipe? The rain was so bad last year we had no choice :( . We have really heavy clay soil and that part of the garden has a real dip in it.

    So theoretically,

Would you or would you not be fined for dropping litter if you threw an apple core into some bushes

Thank good ness I read that sentence back before posting. You lot would have had a field day:eek:

It seems you are not the only one debating the moral issues of dropping an apple core:rotfl:

Ahh, still not as good as proper home made ones. You need to get some.

Well get those wires sunk FC!! But yes, a good idea. Sink a bin in the ground with some mesh or something over it, then just switch the pump on when the garden starts to flood.
