I see quite a few regulars and even a lurker have already answered your post directly. My advice for what it's worth is go and see your gp - offload to them how you are feeling. They may refer you to the local resource network or as it is known in my area these days the community mental health team.
Please push to go see one of these people as they are bloody good. I have been through my own version of "hell" and I am happier today than I have been in many years. There is still a lot of stigma even today about such things. People may say "Im not bloody mad/mental ect" but being depressed and feeling low is in itself an illness.
My advice is to ignore the stigma/prejudices and go along and get yourself some help/therapy. It is a bit like talking to a good friend 1on1 and can be a good way to unload, followed by a more sessions of unloading until your therapist feels you are ready to start taking the "tiny steps" to your brighter happier future".
I honestly don't know where I would be today if I had not swallowed my own pride and ignored my own prejudices and gone along and got the help I so needed. Do I still get bad days ? Hell yes - difference is I know techniques on how to deal/cope with them now.
Even if all the above makes you want to run off in the opposite direction I want to end the post by saying take care of yourself and look after yourself. Please continue to post as you help more people than you realise.

Thank you, I have been on the waiting list with these teams for almost 2 years but no nearer the top of the list because there is always someone worse off than me. I self referred myself to another local counselling service but am totally unsure of how that one works so will wait and see.

I managed to sleep a bit, 3hrs and feel awful but thanks for asking. I agree with you on the playing by the rules, I've too many other things to be worrying about to have to keep looking over my shoulder.
The dog situation is hard because he's on a waiting list which hopefully is a lot shorter after the bank holiday weekend as they took in quite a few in on Sunday.
I do think of you all as friends, I know I can unburden my problems on here but I feel if I disclosed all of them someone may recognise me and don't want that:o

I came on the forums initially because DH was in hospital and had no prospects of going back to work for quite a while so needed to ave money. Due to the amount of time looking after him I never got the chance of ever looking on any of the threads, we existed on woopsies and very strict portion control, freezing leftovers to use near the end of the month when money was tight.
I only ever started to post shortly after he died, I really needed to save, I had so many debts that I was drowning. I managed to muddle through while inside I just wanted to block the world out, DS was and still is my sole reason for going on. Things are hard but so long as he's happy things will be ok.
I found on this thread a place where I feel comfortable to talk about things and I thank you all xx

Just sending you a big hug. i know what you mean about this thread its fab as you can always get help glitch wise, financially or emotionally.
Dont feel bad about the dog. Before my husbands alcoholism got bad he decided to tke up husky racing and we ended up with 13 dogs at one point. After the pups had been sold we ended up with 6. So when his problem got worse I ended up looking after them aswell as everything else. In the end we rehomed them all to good homes and just kept our little terrier booboo.
the dogs were better off and we got some semblance of order back.
Just look after yourself and your son.
