I have got a lockdown. I use the competition boards here a lot but have never felt the urge to post, but I am a bit cross today as I'm blocked out of Facebook. The most annoying thing is, I shared a lot of competitions that my friends had shared too, and I went on to Facebook through my boyfriends account and the girls who I got the comps through are still online and not banned?

If it matters to anyone, the companies I shared recently were:
    Dunrunnin.com
    Terra Travel
    Disneyland Summer 2013
    European Fashion
    Menarys
    Discount Designer Make Up
    Botanic Tan
    Strawberry Curls

There may have been more, I was able to see these from my friends account.

Do you think that Facebook suspends based on all who share from a particular company, or do they suspend based on how much you share? I am getting nowhere trying to get this overturned so will just have to wait til it is lifted.

It feels so unfair, if companies know that users can lose access to accounts, why do they run these competitions. And why doesn't Facebook just close the competition instead of banning normal users.

Did FB state your account was suspended for excessive sharing?

It said I had posted spam and irrelevant content.

Since I got that message I have not been able to log in at all so am waiting it out until they let me log back in.However my boyfriend still can from our computer and mobile so his is fine but he never posts anything like competitions. My sisters is fine too.

The only thing that I have done that could be considered bad behaviour is the competition shares. Admittedly I did them all in a very short period of time.

I am still pretty cross. But Lesson learned.

Lots of anything (friend requests/likes etc) in a short time can set the automated system off more so if the account is new or the activity is a high percentage in relation to previous activity. Adding 100 friends quickly when you already have 1000 would probably not cause a problem, try adding 100 if you've only got 10 and you can expect a warning (even if the friends being added are from FB suggestions!)

They always post comps where you have to share. I called them out on it, they deleted my comment and blocked me!

  • Do companies even have the ability to check if you have shared? I quite often do the Like and Share comps, and put 'Done' below. I've always wondered if they actually have a way of checking if you have shared or just liked! I just Like usually.
I just enter and forget...hoping to win something! :)

They can, but if it's a huge comp with thousands of shares it would take them ages to go through the list and, if using a random generator, they'd have to manually add people's details.

Still don't understand why they don't realise it's much easier to use an app!
    Thanks to all posters :A
