I know that for the new car, what about the old car?0 -
I think this is another area that needs to change. I have seen a 4x4 Mercedes on disabled Road tax and that is worth £635 a year! I think the first £150 should be free and rest should have to top up.0

Anyone? Im going to view a new car at a dealership this Monday and If I like it I like to put disabled road tax on that new car.
However I am selling my old car tomorrow that still has disabled road tax on it.
What procedure do I follow so everything is processed smoothly without delays?0 -

- you present the VED the vehicle excise duty disability exemption number [CofE] and a new whole 12 month exemption is issued
- the old VED exemption on the old car will be cancelled instantly, anyone continuing to drive the car has to pay for a new tax disk
A [CofE] is a certificate of entitlement to DLA [or PIP] this you will already have in your possession [old car] if you are stuck call :
The Disability benefits helpline / Telephone: 08457 123 456

Thanks so the disability road tax on my old car will get automatically cancelled once I get disability road tax on my new car.
So I don't need to worry about changing old car logbook taxation class back to PLG and don't need to worry about sending the disabled tax disc of the old car back by filling put a tax refund form?0 -
Hey tea bag. For those lucky enough to have two or more cars, it makes complete sense to tell the DVLA that the most expensive to tax vehicle is a disabled vehicle. I actually saw in my local Tesco store car park yesterday a young guy (late 20's) get out of a 07 plated Aston Martin convertible which had a Blue Badge on display and a disabled tax disc (I was nosey as I couldn't believe it after he parked it in a disabled bay).
Around my neck of the woods there are a few what most would called 'flash cars' with disabled badges etc. Most are owned by younger veterans who have returned from Iraq/Afghanistan with appalling injuries and have ultimately spent some of their money on what they regard as their 'pride and joys'.
I was chatting with an Afghanistan veteran last month who had bought a new Porsche and he was showing me the adaptations he had fitted to enable him to drive it. Although he loves the car and it is his 'pride & joy' he said he does get frustrated by people who used to look at his tax disc (before he could legally remove it) and his blue badge as if he had no right to both of them and a flash car.
