Hyperamesis Gravidatium - morning sickness - when did yours stop?

For the 10th week of my pregnancy (I am 16wks), I have been signed off again.
I cannot believe how sick and nauseous I am, coupled with back pain I've only been to work 12 times since Christmas! It's not going well :rotfl: I went back feb 14th for 7 days before I realised I just couldn't cope. (I commute 90mins each way on train/tube).
So please please share your stories of how it ended and you sailed through the rest of time without a hint of sickness. I need positive thinking!

I couldn't even keep water down at times and only just managed to avoid being hospitalised, so work was a non-starter. The sickness stopped at 12 weeks though and apart from a bit of backache I was fine for the remaining 6 months.
I had baby #2 fairly quickly after the first one as I was advised that the sickness often isn't so bad if you get pregnant while you still have baby hormones in your body. It worked for me and the sickness was mild the second time around, but I wouldn't advise anyone to try it, just in case![FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.

Oooh I will tell my boyfriend about your suggestion
The first 6wks I couldn't keep anything down, then it got "better" and so I decided to try working. From then onwards for 7 days I was up at 4am nauseous until I was sick a few times, caught a 7am train, often sick on board, then worked nauseous, exhausted until it would start again about 3/4pm. All in all I couldn't keep it up and I'm off again. I feel so flakey with work

Noooooooooooo
Seriously though, that's unusual, right? I feel awe for those who go through this for 9 full months!
I could happily vomit a couple of times but it's like a roller coaster of torture at the moment. I think I have a pattern figured out and then it changes.

Have you tried the usual stuff? Crystallised ginger, sour lemon drops etc?
I found I had to keep munching on something to feel better."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -
I've not tried sour lemon drops, I've tried...
Dry crackers
Ginger biscuits
Full fat coke
Ginger beer (pop not alcohol!)
Sea sickness band
Eating later/earlier/not eating
Carbs ... White plain toast.
Any others I've missed? If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
Mint can help too, in various forms: sweets, tea and so on.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.

Hi I am another one who vomited continuously for the entire duration of each pregnancy. Each of my children were delivered by c section and had to be given prochloperazine injection immediately prior to delivery. I have the added bonus of being diabetic too so the dehydration coupled with the inability to keep food down lead to many episodes of hospitalisation each time. None of the anti emetics I was prescribed during pregnancy did much to remedy the problem either.
Hope you are one of the lucky ones that it eventually goes away for.0 -
Mine disappeared at the start of the third trimester, thank God, as it was absolutely miserable while it lasted. Rice cakes and very bland chicken meals were pretty much the only things I could stomach - and boy, I sure made up for it when it finally eased off!

Are you taking iron tablets?
I was given them with the congrats your pregnant from the doc with my first. From that point I gave up eating as nothing was staying down (I was surviving on water and one slice of toast a day), when I went for my first scan I had lost 2 stone. The hospital told me to stop taking the iron tablets and within a week I was eating again.
Still had the odd bout of feeling rough, my biggest problem for the rest of my pregnancy was low blood pressure, but stopping the iron tablets was the best thing I ever did.0
