I've decided to order one of these for my cat. She is quite a stroppy cat and often gets us up at 3am because she wants a drink and will only drink from a running tap. Hopefully she will use this.

I wish you luck! Mine arrived, it's been set up for two full days, and the little madam has decided she doesn't care for it. It's a dripping tap or nothing! Maybe she'll give it a go when the weather warms up, she drinks more then.

You need to replace the filter quite often (£5 a pop). Mine packed in because I thought I could just wash it, so now I need a new motor and filter. D'oh!

You can just clean it - I have had the same filter in mine for about 2 years. Cillit Bang is the stuff to clean it with to get rid of all the deposits, etc.

Edit - just realised this is a lower end one. This will run out of water very quickly if you have several cats. I recommend this one which has a water tank and I have had for over 2 years without issue: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Drinkwell-D2UK-RE-20-Platinum-Fountain/dp/B004ZPARQ8/ref=sr_1_5?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1363769563&sr=1-5

    Cillit Bang?!

I don't think I'd like my dog to be drinking out of a fountain that has had the filter washed out in cillit bang regardless of how well it's been rinsed after.

For the sake of £4.49 delivered for 2 I think I'd rather replace the filters.

As you can see from the above link, these are not £5 a pop!
