Buying card with disabled road tax, can the seller do that?

Options
Hi,

I am buying new car and guy who is selling it said he will sell it with a road tax for full year , i think he said sth about disabled owner etc. He wanted to do it by himself because i believe he can get it cheapier than i would if i pay by myself. But please let me know if i buy this car with a road taxi even if he do it with a disabled person or sth , can i drive it later with this car when i buy it after he bought road tax to it ?

Thx

disabled road tax can only be used if the person it applys to is in the car when it is being driven

noname1 - do you get high rate mobility DLA? If not, you will be committing an offence if you do not pay to reregister this car properly.

But do i have to do it or seller should do it? Car value is 5k so i dont have any problems for paying it but seller told me that he will buy road tax and he can take it somehow for disabled or sth , i didint check it earlier just now before we can actually make transaction.

from what i read its all about seller who should re-register it before selling . Can he do it somehow that its ok ? Or he want to cheat me ? If so i dont udnerstand why because if they catch me o will pay fine right ? But he can have much bigger problems for selling me car with disabled tax

If its in me duty do change it , i am getting cheated because guy added tax price wich is 270 pounds to our total selling price. And then not only i would pay the fine but would have to pay another tax .

But if seller should do that what interest is he having in this ?

Because of this and that i had to wait few days for this tax we made pre agreement in his house with small amount in advance from me , and if he changes mind he woul dhave to pay double times. Time of this pre-agreement is also before he was buying this tax so what should i do now ?

Get your money back. And buy a car from someone that is not a scammer or fraudster.

If you get stopped you could be in trouble and liable to any back tax + fines.

Whats in it for them £270 of your money that costs them nothing.

Are you sure they own the car and its not a mobility one? Been done before.

You paid for the tax and want the tax disc with paid £270 or whatever it costs not NI or disabled under the class.

if the car is taxed as disabled then the person wont be able to buy a road tax for it, what you would have to do is buy the car, then take your share of the V5, a valid insurance cert to the local DVLA office - you then buy a road tax - they send off your part of the V5 and you get a new one showing the car as private use.

But from what you just said i would have to pay 270 more for the tax. In pre-agreement i made is that I buy car with 1 year road tax. I am also from diffrent city so once i go for it i would like to finish documents at once. I thought that once the road tax is done i can buy the car , quickly buy insurance for it online and then i come come back home with it.

From what i understood , guy recieved tax for it today. But it is a disabled one. What should i do then not to add another 270 wich i shouldnt do but still would like to buy it and not wait another few days for it.

    - its called VED exemption
    - its given to the holder of a certificate
    - that certificate has a persons name and a certificate number on it
    - the Tax Disk should by law be handed back by if it is not to be used by that person

Put simply you are not allowed to use it, its a criminal offence even if you yourself are disabled, otherwise a disabled person could accumulate 2 3 or 4 VED exempt vehicles. Tax it yourself or chance driving it illegally - remember anyone looking in the windscreen including your neighbours will know its a VED exempt vehicle.

Yes i understand that but the guy in agreement we have wrote that he is selling car with 1 year road tax. So he cant sell me it with Disabled person it it right ?

What should he do know to normally tax it even if he taxed it today as that VED exemption?
