Surely it's more of decrease in what's paid for you as opposed to an increase in your council tax

Yea, but that's a bit long-winded for a post title.
It's still an increase in what I'm expected to cough up.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have an issue with paying my share etc.
And I'm at uni in the hope of eliminating my reliance on benefits altogether eventually.
At a pinch I can afford the full amount they want - but there are many who will be entirely unable to do so and that's a really s@*##y way to deal with people.
The people who will be hardest hit are, in general, also this least likely to respond to a consultation because they are disillusioned with government in general, and expect politicians to only do what's best for themselves.

We get the 25% discount - essentially the same as a single occupancy discount.

Is that since the changes? (It was always 100% when i was a student)

If thats the case i forsee a lot of unhappy students (or unhappy HMO landlords)!
