Must be more than 30% unless his bill is circa£2000 per year.

Seems like it's welcome to the Tory government eh!

My dad's been on sick leave for ages and about to go back on JSA and he now has to pay extra for his council tax. I get why they need to claw money back, but they're taking it from the people who need it the most. CTB was for those either unemployed, on disability or low income, so it's not all the 'dole scroungers' as some people put it that will be worse off, its a wider range of people

    A little over 80%
    Compared to 14% last year

What, so their books get to balance even if that means nobody else's can? We're all in this together, remember.
I wasn't afforded an opportunity to attend any of their consultations. Regardless, a 500% rise is unreasonable and ridiculous. I knew an increase was coming; and even doubling my monthly payment had crossed my mind as a possible outcome. But asking SIX TIMES my payment, with only a fortnight's notice was never going to work.

They offered consultation, you had to sign up and take part. Even though I am not affected in my area we ended up with £1 a week standard increase for all. It took a lot of consultation, but I'd say it was a result. Hence why I asked if you took advantage of their consultation to air your views.

Well then I wish they'd told me about it.
Still unlikely it would have been possible for me to take part with the hours I was working most of last year.

  • Our council sent out comprehensive forms to ask for opinions and then ignored them and did whatever they wanted. This is the norm for Bexley though, so it was annoying but not surprising.

I'm in Scotland so I'm not affected by it.

Same thankfully! Think it will hit people harder south of the border when they are hit with BT and CTB reductions all at once.

Surely it's more of decrease in what's paid for you as opposed to an increase in your council tax
