Council Tax Support 500% increase in Council Tax - not so supportive

Anyone else received their new Council Tax bill with CTS instead of CTB?
Mine came through this morning expecting new payments of £66 per month, when my old ones were just £11.
Just wondering how other people's have changed?

Our council (cheshire West) say that everyone must pay at least 25%. There are also other rules like you have to live in the area for 2 years before you can claim and that they will no longer backdate any claims.

For an unemployed person living in a band A its works out at about £250 a year
Bedroom Tax / Spare room subsidy / Housing Benefit Reduction - It's the same thing, get over it.

York here say 30%. I just can't work out where they think people without an income are going to find that from.
But, hey, the jails can't hold everyone...

Did you consult with them? What did you suggest in consultation when you saw the books?

if you live in an area with high studen/pensioner populations, the chances are you are going to be hit quite hard.

i know not all pensioners receive council tax benefit, but the proportion that do is relatively high.

the councils only have the unemployed and disable and low earners to claw this money back from

What, so their books get to balance even if that means nobody else's can? We're all in this together, remember.
I wasn't afforded an opportunity to attend any of their consultations. Regardless, a 500% rise is unreasonable and ridiculous. I knew an increase was coming; and even doubling my monthly payment had crossed my mind as a possible outcome. But asking SIX TIMES my payment, with only a fortnight's notice was never going to work.

As you 'know', can you provide a link for that knowledge?
