with it being an Apple product, you are not really gonna find it any cheaper, well at least from any reputable place at least,

personally i would take it back to apple to get it done by them as unless you get it done at a Apple approved repairer, it will probably invalidate your warranty although this might set you back a few more quid

edit actually scrap that its a lot more pennys at apple uk https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4663170?start=0&tstart=0 £210 auch

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

Maybe check out these guys? If you quote NUFC.com the price is £59.99. They do a postal option, so postage costs would need to be added.

For the record, whilst I used to live in the town where they are based (Birtley - but that was 16+ years ago) I have no affiliation with them.

Basically if you get it done anywhere else than through apple say goodbye to any warranty you had on it, ie the battery life one, and any chance of extending their own plan. They wont repair it, they'll replace it at a cost of £216.44 with a refurb. Their version of a refurb is a proper refurb however, replaced battery, and looking all shiny again. Go through the Genius bar for this option.

OR pay some random person, usually by sending your ipad away, to replace the screen at a teensy cost (compared to apples repair) and hope that you get your ipad back, working, in one piece, and no extra bills. If you're lucky, it goes perfectly!

Replace it yourself if you can get hold of a mini screen. Good luck!

    I would:
Claim household accidental damage insurance. If you have that available on your contents insurance. Then insist that it's done through an apple approved dealer/genius bar.

When done, get it properly insured, and in a proper survivor typed case.
Also back it up now, right now, not tomorrow, not later, now. Just in Case :D and if you go for sending it away to anyone, restore it back to factory settings and do not log in on it till you get it back/a replacement.

Just realised that what I posted earlier was for the Ipad2, not the mini.

So if it hasn't suffered impact damage, take it back to an Apple store and ask them to fix it under warranty. What do you have to lose-it could be manufacturing defect?

Go to an apple store and book in to see the technical team, take your receipt with you so you have a date you bought. Tell them exactly what happened, be nice and ask what your options are. See what they offer you. They are generally excellent.
