Somehow, emails have been sent from my Yahoo mail account to those in my contacts folder - how can that happen and what can I do about it?

Either your account has been hacked and is now sending spam (in which case change your password immediately and run a full AV scan), or it's just address spoofing, which you can do nothing about.
If the emails you refer to are showing in your 'Sent' folder, then you have been hacked. If not, then it's just address spoofing.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Happened to me last night as well, got up to 61 rejected emails !!
Nothing in my sent email folder but looks like they went through my contacts folder. Passwords now changed and contacts deleted.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
