Requesting PAC from T-mobile
Just rang TM to request PACs for two numbers that are long out of contract. The CS rep told me there was no point in requesting PACs until I was certain I was leaving the network because:
1) Once I'd been given a PAC they couldn't/wouldn't make me any upgrade offers
2) I would be charged 30 days line rental from the date of using the PAC (not as I thought from the date of its issue)
As I was surprised by both these statements, I questioned him hard to make sure I hadn't misunderstood him on either point. I told him I was interested in SIM only deals and he offered me the same £8/month that is offered on their website to new customers.
Am I being unduly sceptical in thinking he may have fibbed about 1) and 2) to try and get me to sign up for that deal on the spot?

A PAC is not giving notice, it's just an option to cancel that expires after 30 days if it is not used.
You are not 'out of contract', you are out of minimum term. Your contract then continues until such time as you give 30 days notice. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

BEWARE T-Mobile early termination fee when useing pac code...0 -
You say you are out of contract. Are you still paying a monthly charge for an allowance of calls and texts? If yes then #2 is correct as you have to give 30days notice as you would on a sim only deal. The truth doesn't care if you believe or not...0

My mistake for error in above post as you pointed out. If the OP is still paying a monthly fee they would have to give 30 days notice to leave as you would on a sim only deal.. This 30 days notice can be given before or when requesting pac but as soon as the pac is given to another provider then all remaining allowance will be lost.
I've just had a similar problem with them and I had different departments telling me different things. The truth doesn't care if you believe or not...0
