O/S Daily Wednesday 13th March This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

    Morning all:j:j

Feels warmer here this morning :j:j

Better nights sleep too. I did not wake up until 4:15. I got up then and put the radio on downstairs. I must of fell back off to sleep, And woke back up at 5:10. So I'm not going to moan about that.

My wrist still feels very tight this morning but at the moment its not hurting too much.

Iv got to go over to my wife's Nan's house today. So I'm not going to be able to give it complete rest. But I will try to take it as easy as I can with it.

No meal plans as yet today. But There will be the four of us eating tonight. Not sure if we will be all eating together or not. I will leave that up to my wife to decide. She is not at work today. I think she won'ts us to go to Aldi at some point today. We do need a few things, But not a lot.

The twin's should be back at school this morning. They were still not right. But they are loads better in themselves and being lively/noisy again.:T:T

Well I hope that you have all been keeping warm and well, During this cold snap that we have been having.

Lets hope that It will not last more than a couple of weeks, And then we can get spring started and some better weather. I think that will make us all feel loads better.

    Enjoy your day everyone :j:j

  • Good morning everyone :)

Glad you got a bit more sleep halight, try and look after that wrist.

Still feels just as cold here and I think we are set to be like this for a few days. I have to say most of the time I do prefer cold bright days to constant rain. Once it starts with snow and ice on the roads, I will swap it for rain any time.

DH is out tonight so will be quick dinner of pre-prepared fried rice. I need to make a batch of soup so all the left over veggies will be getting gathered up for that tonight. Can't decide if it's going to be lentil or minestrone so I may do one of each.

No Oxfam bags yet this week, so will try and do a couple of those tonight too. My ebay pile is getting bigger but I was very bad yesterday and bought something instead of selling something :o

Time for work so will leave with well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep warm and safe and have a super day :)

good morning chums, brrr bit nippy this morning but at least not snowing.Thick ice everywhere so mind how you go on the roads we're all precious on this site and we can'r afford to lose anyone .
School run this morning then home to do some housework I think.Just a few odd jobs like hoovering dusting etc nothing too strenuous :) thenI am off to visit a friend whom I haven't seen for awhile,so lots of knitting and nattering.back by 3.30 to pick up DGS from school then back to their house to make a snack for them and stand over them with a whip :):) whilst they get their homework done:):) They're not too bad lads though and the promise of a cheese toastie or a bacon sarnie usually motivates them:):)
    Right onwards and upwards chums
keep wrapped up as its still winter out there
    Cheers JackieO xxx
P.S. Old sheet is still attached to my car windscreen so obviously less of a snip for tea-leaves :):)and far cheaper than de-icer

    Morning all,

Brrr still bitter cold here, but no more snow, the roads are very icy though, so go careful.

Dropping dd at station this morning for college, then home, need to do upstairs this morning, did downstairs yesterday.

The turkey leg from morrisons was really tasty, we have the 2nd half tonight, in a curry, so I need to make that at some point.

I also made Gintots brownies yesterday, they were very nice too, so thank you for the recipe.

Will put a wash on after this, ist bright and sunny, so will hang it on the line.

    Have good days all xx

meant to say, Flutterby is fine, I have seen her about on FB, I think she is just busy

    Morning All

Still cold here, but a lot of the snow has melted thank goodness:T
DD will finally be able to get over to me today. Going to do meatballs and spaghetti for dinner.

Fell yesterday.:( Got up to answer the phone, knee collapsed, stumbled across the living room and headbutted the door. Ended up with two bashed knees, a nasty graze on my elbow and cut the bridge of my nose on my glasses.:o Shook me up a lot too. I wish I didn't keep falling, but this knee just goes (it's the MS)

Slept well though. 9 till 11 then till 3 then till 5 which is good for me. Got up at 6.30 in the end feeling like I have slept.:T

Halight glad you had a good night too. Watch the wrist today.

Have a good day all and stay warm.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Blue sky and sunshine, no new snowfall but not so cold here this morning.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was an easy fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg - hairdresser came to do haircuts and re-blond me, feels so much better. Remembered to get the beef out to defrost overnight - we will be eating stew and dumplings, mash and veg for dinner tonight.

Work was steady yesterday - not as busy as Monday but we know it will now get busier as the bills are hitting the mats! Deep joy! Only working until lunchtime today then on day's off - so will make a start on the list of chores.

Stay safe for those that are getting/may get snow!

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Aww Hilstep you poor thing, big hugs, take it easy today.
    Glad your sleeping better Halight.

Didn't manage to get on yesterday or read so hope your all ok.
No snow or frost here, I'm hoping its a bit warmer as I have DGS for the day tomorrow and was hoping to take him out for a walk.
This blooming cold is still lingering although I feel better and did manage a decent nights sleep last night. More ebaying for me today.
Need to plan something decent today for tea as we ended up with frozen pizza last night. Probably something with new potatoes as I have some wanting using.
Have a good Wednesday all x

  • Hilstep I really hope you are feeling better soon. A fall can really shake you up, so hugs to you.

Well, I am shocked to say that we won last night at the WI Darts Tournament! We are now through to the final next week (I've never played darts before!). I don't know what happened but whenever we were down to needing our last double, my dart was somehow miraculously ending up in there!!! They were all shouting and screaming and hugging me and calling me their star player!! I felt so popular!!!

Plus, while I was out, most of my ebay stuff sold and netted me £100 so that gives me much-needed money for food and petrol for the rest of this month. Phew!

Tea tonight is a quick affair as it's our monthly WI meeting - pork loin steak with chips out of the freezer for DH and soup for me.

The snow cleared here yesterday in beautiful winter sunshine but it is snow snowing again and forecast to continue until at least tomorrow - I only planted out my strawberry plants at the weekend so I don't know what they're going to make of all this.... Take care out there everyone.

  • Morning everyone.

I'm in a better mood today. I had a decent nights sleep and so did hubby, I think he's been disrupting my sleep but I didn't realise.

I was super busy at work yesterday and they've asked to do extra today. I won't get paid extra as I'm on an annualised hours contract but I'm hoping to bank enough term time hours to have more school hols off. There's a new higher grade vacancy coming up so I'm hoping to get that. It will be more hours and higher pay, I'm pretty much doing the job now anyway. My line managers are training me up now so I have a good chance of impressing HR and higher management.

Last nights dinner was homemade pasties, a new one for me. My pastry was thicker than I wanted and the swede over powered the rest of the filling but otherwise they were great. Small adaptations for next time. Even food phobe DS2 ate it. Making a fennel and sausage pasta tonight. Got to be quick as DS2 is at the optician.

Halight glad you slept better. Hopefully you'll continue to progress and make it through the night!

Hilstep Sorry about your fall. I hope you are feeling ok now.

Save a holicCongratulations and thank you for letting everyone know the WI isn't all old ladies singing Jerusalem! Our group has girls in their early twenties come along, I don't think we have anyone over 60. The first group I ever went to had an average age of about 75.

    Enjoy your day today everyone.
