Just need to offload and I know you guys are good at talking sense in to me
Sat here in tears. Just been to the doctor and found out I may have PCOS. I don't know much about it, only it can affect fertility, and the way I feel at the moment I don't dare do any research.
The one thing I want more than anything is my own family. But after a series of pretty awful relationships and now this, the chances are looking pretty slim.
I am 30, in loads of debt and am at risk of being made redundant in the next few months with no redundancy pay due to not having worked at the company long enough to qualify.
I just want my mum, but know that if I talk to her somehow everything will be my fault (even though most of it is, there are some bits that aren't!).
And right at the bottom of my list of worries, the car is due for tax and mot and I know it will fail, and I have no money to pay for it anyway.
Ho hum

Oh, and to top it all off, I put my application to be a foster mum on hold as I was in a new relationship and they had told me that this could be an issue. And now that relationship is pretty much over.
Grrr!0 -
Didn't want to read and run Katy. I have no experience of the infertility thing, but in respect to post 2 can you reopen your foster application now? If you can, that's one box ticked off.Spend less now, work less later.0

Hi
I can reassure regarding fertility.
Yes PCOS does lower fertility but it is still possible to have children. I suffer from PCOS and have 2 children. The first conceive after 18 months of trying naturally and the second after 6 years with treatment. It was a hard journey but we got there.
I also know of women with PCOS who have had no problem conceiving.
PCOS is a condition that you can "ease". Research diets etc and if you are overweight, losing weight can help (easier said than done I know)
With regards to your debts have you looked at the debt free wannabe board. They are great over there and will provide you with some really good help.
Take care and look after yourselfGive me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.0 -
Both my daughters were diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago. The first thing they both set out to do was lose weight as they were both about 4 stones overweight.
Since then they have both become pregnant, although sadly one pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage. However, I have a 4 year old Grandson who is the apple of everyone's eye
There seems to be many 'levels' for sufferers, the worst of whom can get lots of hair growth etc. Neither of my DD's were that bad fortunately.
Do the research, it's not so scary and forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Good luck
I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Just wanted to second this. I also suffer from PCOS, and have had no trouble conceiving. In fact if anything I appear to be a little too fertile, despite initially believing after my PCOS diagnosis that conceiving would be difficult. As for the rest. Stop worrying, stop procrastinating, contact everyone you owe money to, let them know how much you can realistically pay (don't be bullied into paying more than you can afford-if needs be, send a letter asking for contact to be made via letter only so you don't feel pressured into anything). Once you have done this you will be much happier and less pressured.0 -
Thanks

The foster application still needs to stay on hold really, as when I initially applied I had my previous dog who was a dream with children. He since died and I now have a 'problem' dog who needs a lot of work before I could consider bringing older children in to the house. I think he would be fine if he was with me throughout a pregnancy, but not sure how he would handle a child straight away.
My debts are being paid off gradually, and are not getting much worse. I have it all under control, but it is just taking soooo long that I can't see an end to it.
Procrastinating is the one thing I am good at!
Thanks for the reassurance regarding the PCOS, I have a bit more courage now to actually do some research

((virtual hugs))
Couldn't read and run.
I have pcos and have a baby, I did have a miscarriage some years before having my son but that sadly happens to many women.
So even if you have PCOS doesn't mean you definately will have problems just may have and if you do there are treatments to help
I would focus on looking after your health as said above as a lot of symptoms can be eased by having a healthy diet etc (says she who has just eaten a mars bar :0 )
Here's a good website if you do change your mind about looking up stuff and they do have a supportive forum. http://www.verity-pcos.org.uk/

Don't do too much research though! there's nothing quite like google to make you convinced you're dying. As a previous poster said, apparently the biggest symptom of PCOS is being overly hairy. If that's the case then I would suffer from PCOS more severely than anyone else alive. A later symptom is a decline in fertility. Luckily, I have my 2 children to inform me that I'm hairy like a gorilla.
Remember, Victoria Beckham, very skinny, bit spotty, has PCOS. And she has 4 children.0 -
to add to the positive posts - I have a friend with PCOS and 3 kids0
