Incidentally, if I knew you in real life and knew you were recently single, I would not be waxing lyrical to you about my happy marriage....:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

I am very happily married to a man who I think is pretty outstanding. His main flaw is he ain't that bright because he seems to think,I am something special.

I was happy single too, and loved dating, and really only I had a few rough years (very unhappy relationship with a physical and mental bully, which didn't last too long once I realised it took a while to extrapolate myself from though).
Because I was happy single, and happy in relationships , I wonder if it comes down partly to the outlook of the individual ( as well a other circumstances at the time). Being able to make the best and enjoy the benefits of a situation of any sort are pretty lucky qualities to have.0 -
I've been with OH for just over 17 years, we get married in 9 weeks. Had a bit of a bump 3 years ago but we are very happy and can't wait to get married :-)0

There you go - this lot ^^^^ have hoovered up all the decent men, and all that's left is the dreggy first husbands.
(Tongue-in-cheek of course, but honestly, it really feels that way sometimes! :rotfl:)"Most of the people ... were unhappy... Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small green pieces of paper, which is odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy." -- Douglas Adams0 -
My H and I enjoy a fairly unconventional life.
We've two children, ages 3 and 9. We are based in Surrey. He works in the Highlands of Scotland for twenty days of every month. He can vary the days on which he travels, but the number of days away are not variable.
My OH and I have gone through many times when one of us worked away from the marital home, and we've thrived on the fact that absense makes the heart grow fonder.
Not to mention the inventive ways we've found to be close whilst apart.
Our children have become used to the pattern of Daddy working away, knowing he'll be on Skype every night to read their bedtime story, or listen along with them when it's my turn to read the story.
To answer the OP's question, I have to say, HECK, YES!
I'm very happily married, thank you.0 -
I am, but it has only been 2 months so far, this time, however, I am determind this one will last me a lifetime after a gap of 30 years between marriages. (I was bringing up the kids and being a Carer).

We met on a blind date in June 1971 when I was 21 and he was 22. We married in October 1971 when we were still those ages

He is still my Man, still the person I fell in love with all those years ago, still my soul mate, still helps me to see the stars and still my best friend.
We have been married 42 years this year.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Been with my hubby since age 17 and 45 now!Definetely my soul mate.Love him to bits.Had a few rocky moments early on as so young.
My eldest son is nearly 17 now and never had a girlfriend.Wonder what will happen with him?0 -
I've been happily married for nearly 16 years, my parents for 46, and husbands parents for 50. I do think relationships take work, but I don't know about working hard every single day. My husband is my best friend and it doesn't seem like that much effort.0
