Hi I read through this thread yesterday and am tempted to join, two reasons really for a little bit to save and the fact I always always read reviews before buying majority of things. My only concerns are that I am naturally not the best writer and will this just not be for me because of this?0

I think there definitely were some issues with a minority of MSE Dooyooers in the past writing frankly carp reviews to make quick money -and it went down very badly with the Dooyoo community in general-and frankly I don't blame them.
Obviously the more reviews you write (and read) the better you get at it-no-one expects all newbies to write perfect reviews -just all the facts -and a bit of balance (eg I loved this about X product but I didn't like Y about it-with reasons) and some personal opinion is what I personally look for in a good review.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Even after reading a review I like to leave a little bit before rating it - usually I don't do this consciously, I read while doing other things, music, social networks ect. So it does take me an hour to read a page of newest reviews ...0

I have noticed that a few DYers have mentioned they are dyslexic in their reviews, but they still produce really good stuff. It isn't really about your use of adjectives or literary devices - just being honest, providing useful info, getting your opinion down. I wouldn't worry too much as many people have shaky starts, but as long as you persevere your writing will improve.0 -

I've read the site rules (naturally!) and I notice they put a lot of emphasis on not just clicking onto a review and rating it without giving it a proper read. This concerned me a little, as I read very quickly. So I timed myself, and on a review just over 1000 words, it took me 64 seconds to read. I get the feeling this wouldn't pass their checks, but I also feel like I'm being dishonest by lingering on the page for longer to pass a check =S Does anyone have a rough idea of what I should be doing to avoid getting into any bother?
You could always comment to prove that you've read it, ask a question or make an observation, ect.0 -
I had the same problem. I read so fast I polished off the Ice and Fire books up to Dance with Dragons in five days and those things are huge. So with dooyoo I have to conciously slow down a lot.
I think the fastest I ever read was Murakami's 1Q84 in 3 days. Just under a 1000 pages.0 -
