    Morning all,

My cold is on its way out thank goodness, but always leaves me with sinus problems. I shall be doing my inhaling over a hot bowl with mentholated crystals shortly. It's a standing joke in our house, where's mum? Under a towel!
Lots of items finishing today on eBay and a piece of furniture to be collected. I have some more listings to do and some parcels to post.
Dh has gone off to work and ds3 has gone to college. He is really struggling with one subject so going to see his head of year and maybe consider dropping that one and concentrating on the other 3. Hopefully she will be able to help.
Ds2 starts work two weeks today, he can't wait. You wouldn't believe the checks he has had to go through. You would think he was guarding the Crown Jewels and I'm not exagerating. He will be working in insurance:eek:
Going to have a quiet hour now though and eat my breakfast in peace.
It looks beautiful and sunny outside but I know it's freezing.
Chicken curry for tea, and I'm another one making a fruit cake later.
    Have a good Monday x

    Morning all,

Snowing heavy here, and its laying :D, I do love a bit of snow. Need to drop dd at work this morning, so hope the roads are ok.

Did very well on ebay yesterday, so need to get those those that have paid sent off, just one who has not, whats the betting that he pays the second I walk in the door from the post office ??

Summer in winter chicken for dinner, I use chilli pesto though, as I cant eat basil, so looking forward to that, I also took 2 turkey legs from the freezer, will do a roast tomorrow, and make some currys with the rest.

General tidy round today, and I have a wash on, which will go on the airer.

I had a lovely mothers day, my dd bought me 2 trays of tulip plants, a box of chocs and some oven gloves, bless her my old ones were falling to bits, we watched an afternoon film, and I had a nap :D.

Ok better get on, have good days all xx

I hope all the ill people get well soon, it seems as if there's a lot of illness about.

Well, it's a cold one this morning. I hate it when there's a north east wind - it's the worst direction for north Kent, the wind come straight off the the North Sea, bringing snow with it. Lots of snow showers are being whipped in on the wind. It's stopped now, but about 10 minutes ago it was almost blizzard conditions! I hope the snow doesn't get deep, I have a hairdressers appointment tomorrow, and I really need to get my hair done!

As for today, it's my usual Monday housework push, I like to get as much done and out of the way early in the week.

I'll also walk up to the Post Office with the eBay parcels, although I'll need to wrap up warm.

We'll be having spaghetti bolognese for dinner, which is one of my favourites. I have the grocery shopping due for delivery at 6pm this evening, so also hoping the snow holds off so I can get my food in. I have stuff in the freezer and cupboards, but I'm not at total winter preparedness levels, I thought it was spring!

    Have a good day.

However, the sun is shining, no snow flurries but it looks cold.

    Usual jobs for me today

    Morning,
Gorgeous day here but very cold which will probably scupper my plans to carry on sorting the garden, and we need some more topsoil which DH hasnt ordered yet(where does it go to?)so I may have to do the dreaded ironing instead

We have been having trouble with our sky reception, and DS2 checked the dish and found a birds nest being built on the bracket,so DH got a ladder and got that down(nothing in it I hasten to add) but it still keeps flickering so he's decided its the neighbours conifers which are a ridiculous height so he's going to'have a word'.We are having a tree surgeon take down our rotten horse chestnut ,hopefully this weekend so might get him to have a look at those too.The neighbour won't contribute,he quite cheerfully let DH lower some other conifers. His garden is like a forest with some massive trees. The house is up for sale so anyone new would have to spend hundreds to get the garden anything like.

Anyway, back to OSy matters, tea will be either left over lamb from last night or salmon, not decided yet.DW is on thanks to DH.I need to give DGD room a tidy, and our bathroom.Did a deep clean on DS bathroom on Friday so just a quick swish on that.Working my way through upstairs spring cleaning :D

I have some typing for Dh to do too,so that lot will keep me busy today but I may squeeze watching the last episode of Call the midwife in later.Might have to light the log burner to avoid putting the heating on but I'll leave it till after the cleaning's done otherwise I get too hot.Hope you all have good days.

PS.Camelot,of course- Old Lob was the horse :o,but I'm excusing myself on the grounds that it must have been over 50 years since I read it

    Morning all!
Yellow ball is shining, hopefully it will melt the snow off the car and save me clearing it! Garage phoned yesterday, hopefully I will get the new car on Friday:j I am easily pleased, and next payment will be the lower one, :j:j
DD away to work at daft o'clock, DS and a friend still snoring in his room, cat lying under a radiator making dreaming noises, I've been reading since about 6 but couldn't be bothered getting up till about an hour ago, and am currently on my 2nd coffee whilst wondering what to do today, might try and clear some more gibble from my bedroom, need to fill the car with records at some point to take to shop, but the street its on is currently closed to traffic after a bad fire a couple of weeks ago!
Could do with pulling out the steam cleaner and hitting the fridge and the tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, but that may be too much effort for today, will see once the caffeine kicks in!
Have a good day all, and stay safe and warm!
    RIP Iain

I was just lurking on the thread and was amazed to read this. I started school in 1953 and learned to read using this series of books. I remember the classroom, stark walls with just some posters of the book characters. I distinctly remember Percy the bad chick and I'm sure there was a goat in there too!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane!:)

Just did some Googling and it seems Old Lob was the farmer and Dobbin was the horse. I'll be thinking of them all day now.:)
  • Hi all. Returning after a long sabbatical and looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. :)

Because of EDF's incompetency and poor customer service I have had to fork out over £500 to them this month so am feeling the squeeze a little (as in 'a lot'!). I have 28 things listed on ebay to earn some money to g me through the month and we will see if I can manage! If I REALLY need to, then I can dip into my (authorised) overdraft, but I have fought for so long to get out of debt that I REALLY don't want to do this unless there is no other option. I'm looking at it as more of a challenge at the moment. ;)

We have had blizzard conditions here this morning (lambing storms) which have caused some pretty bad car accidents, and made the journey into work (driving in a whiteout) pretty hair-raising.

Tonight I will be having hm Carrot & Coriander Soup (made last night) and DH will be having bbq chicken & chips. I won't have long before I have to go to the WI Committee meeting tonight so these are both quick to prepare.

    A good day to all!:)
