Faulty Xbox 360

Yes, the shop has given you the standard "send it back to MS" line which is against the UK Sale of Goods Act. Go back to the store and demand a replacement.0
-
And the lesson for today is to not buy the extended warenties from DSG.
But as said above the store is responsible for the console you gave your money to the store threfore the contract is between you and the store. The Sales of goods act says stores must not sell inherently faulty goods, the number of faulty xbox 360's with the same problem tells everyone that it is inherently faulty and the fact Microsoft have admitted it by increaseing the 1 year warrenty to 3 years for 3 red light faults just goes to prove this.
Return it to the the store and request a refund on the 3 year warrenty, due to the first time you have tried to use it you have been fobbed off. I would request a refund for the whole lot. If you want you could contact your credit card company if you paid for it with a CC as the goods (3 year extended warenty) isnt as describbed.0 -

You are wrong. Sorry. There is a 1 year warranty on the console which means if it was bought 10 months ago, the unit can be taken into any GAME store nationwide and have it replaced. Alternatively, MS now have a 3 year warranty for the 3 red light problem, and you can take it up with them. There is a 28 day return policy for unwanted products, this is not a warranty.computerwoman wrote: »nope!!!!
game will tell you to send it to M$ as they have a 28 day warranty, after that you have to get in touch with M$ they should be a phone number somewhere, in the warranty guide that you got with the 360,
sorry but game will just laugh at you, try asking them to send it back to microsoft for you, since you bought it from there shop, wouldnt like to say what the postage would be as they are quite heavy.

Despite what you may think about highstreet retailers, some of us do know consumer rights. Not only is this person entitled to a replacement but will get no argument and no 'laughing in their face' because unlike DSG and Argos, we are a specialist and therefore know far more about the product (and it's known faults). Please correct your mistake, as it is insulting to the staff at GAME who work hard to fix people's problems and emphasise good customer service over anything else.0 -
And its also A* to Hkem for pointing out that Microsoft now give a 3 year warranty for the 3 red light of death problem as this is not widely publicised.0

Their letter explaining the extended warranty used to be on the 360 web site.Justin_Scotland wrote: »And its also A* to Hkem for pointing out that Microsoft now give a 3 year warranty for the 3 red light of death problem as this is not widely publicised.
BTW I had a Sims disc which had a triangle fall out the center. Game in Kirkcaldy said that my daughter had been too rough with it and refused to replace it despite me asking just how on Earth do you do the kind of damage. Got some advice elsewhere and contacted EA who sent a new disc for £3.00. Well done Game...I've never been back!!0 -

To our Xbox Community:
You’ve spoken, and we’ve heard you. Good service and a good customer experience are areas of the business that we care deeply about. And frankly, we’ve not been doing a good enough job.
Some of you have expressed frustration with the customer experiences you have had with Xbox 360; frustration with having to return your console for service after receiving the general hardware error message on the console.
The majority of customers who own Xbox 360 consoles have had a terrific experience from their first day, and continue to, day in and day out. But when anyone questions the reliability of our product, or our commitment to our customers, it’s something I take very seriously.
We have been following this issue closely, and with on-going testing have identified several factors that can cause a general hardware failure indicated by three flashing red lights on the console. To address this issue, and as part of our ongoing work, we have already made certain improvements to the console.
We are also implementing some important policy changes intended to keep you in the game, worry-free.
As of today, all Xbox 360 consoles are covered by an enhanced warranty program to address specifically the general hardware failures indicated by the three flashing red lights on the console. This applies to new and previously-sold consoles. While we will still have a general one year console warranty (two years in some countries), we are announcing today a three-year warranty that covers any console that displays a three flashing red lights error message. If a customer has an issue indicated by the three flashing red lights, Microsoft will repair the console free of charge -- including shipping -- for three years from the console’s purchase date. We will also retroactively reimburse any of you who paid for repairs related to problems indicated by this error message in the past. In doing so, Microsoft stands behind its products and takes responsibility to ensure that every Xbox 360 console owner continues to have a fantastic gaming experience.
If we have let any of you down in the experience you have had with your Xbox 360, we sincerely apologize. We are taking responsibility and are making these changes to ensure that every Xbox 360 owner continues to have a great experience.
This will take a few days to roll out globally, and I appreciate your continued patience as we launch this program. I’ve posted an FAQ that should address some additional questions, and we’ll update it over the next few days.
I want to thank you, on behalf of all us at Microsoft, for your loyalty.

My son bought his 360 elite in November from Game. They told him if he had any problems within the first year and they would exchange it there and then - after that then it would be sent back to MS. I think that's one of the reasons he got his from Game. He also got a 3yr warranty. I thought this was standard?
Fortunately, we've found from the serial number that he's got the new Falcon chipset in it. It also has a BenQ drive, so supposedly they have fewer problems. His is on a LOT, but he's never had any problems with it overheating or otherwise (fingers crossed!)0 -

A new problem seems to be occuring with the new ones. They just stop reading discs for no reason. No red lights of death.0
