Morning all, and Happy Mother's Day. My mum died about 6 years ago and I still miss her. She was a wonderful woman with many amazing achievements in her life time. So proud of her and especially how she managed her illness with dignity and a complete lack of self-pity.
Today is another lazy day, rugby this afternoon and probably the papers this morning.
never made the soup yesterday, so lunch will be HM soup and dinner will be something made out of leftover roast pork.
It's just starting to drop a few flakes of snow, but nothing to worry about at the moment and it's not terribly cold so I doubt it will settle.
Washed a big blanket yesterday, so need to get that hung somewhere to dry.

Good morning everyone.
I really enjoyed reading about your mum, JackieO she sounds like she was a remarkable woman, and you lost her far too early.
My parents had taught me to read before I started school. My dad was a carpenter, and had to do a job in a school, and was given a load of Janet and John books for me, so I had done the J&J thing while I was 3-4 years.
When I started school in 1965, it was the fashion to teach kids with the Initial Teaching Alphabet, which had symbols for sounds. So I had to do that, and then go on to Janet and John afterwards. But at home I just rushed on ahead, getting books out of the library every week to satisfy my book craving. I've always been a bookworm.
Anyway, we've got roast chicken for lunch. Not much else planned, just ironing and wrapping my eBay sales. I've got someone calling at around 11am to pick up an eBay sale.
Have a good day and keep warm.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Morning all,
Happy Mothers day to all our mums, and thoughts to those who have lost their mum, can be a bitter sweet day for some.
Halight,we really cant leave you alone for a moment, not one but 2 ladies offering to move in with you !! what would the wife say !
Bitterly cold here, we are due snow tomorrow, have got the bedding in the wm, will get it on the line as there is a good breeze, the sheet will become a dust sheet once dry, as its very old, and it ripped as I took it off, I have new sheets and duvet set to go on tonight :T
Going to make some cakes today, a lemon drizzle and I might do Gintots brownie recipe from yesterday, I have some xmas chocs left over that wont be eaten.
My mum is off to lunch with dad at the home today, but I shall see if she wants to pop in on the way home, for tea and cake.
Last night we had a chinese takeaway instead of the noodles as a birthday treat, it was very nice indeed, there is loads left, so I might do it for tonights dinner too, will do a few extra chips to bulk it out.
Have lovely mothering sundays all xx0 -
Morning all,
Happy Mothers Day to all the mums.
I'm another one who was taught to read very early by her mum. I taught my daughter to read and write well before school age and she has done the same with her little boy. Both me and mum and my daughter are all massive bookworms. Hopefully Oscar will be the same.
My Mother's Day is a bit spread out as well. Had some beautiful flowers from my son in Australia yesterday. Had a meal out with my dd DS and gf last night and have had a card and a cd from youngest this morning. He is also making spaghetti bolognese for lunch. He has never cooked it before but following his sisters recipe. I'm sure it will be gorgeous;)
Wasn't planning to see mum today as she lives over in Yorkshire about an hour and half away, but their telly has gone off and we can't leave them without so once hubby gets back from visiting his mum we shall set off over there, sort out the tv and come straight back phew!
So a much busier day than we expected but hey ho, it doesn't matter I'm just grateful I still have my lovely mum. Nothing is too much trouble for her.

Every week, on pay day, my Dad used to come home from work with a new book for me. I remember the day he came home with Fungus The Bogeyman, my mother was not amused!0

Afternoon (well it is only just).
Happy Mothers Day to all you lovely Mums. Halight you will be getting your greetings on Fathers day no doubt.
Ive not been forgotten this Mothers day i'm glad to say. Ive had cards from 3 of my children and a long conversation with my daughter in South Africa. I doubt if i'll see my other son but i like to think he loves me, just like i love him.
Youve heard me talk about how much i like being on my own.... well not today i dont.
Hubby has gone off with youngest to get some flowers for his Mothers grave and he's going to give it a good clean so he's took half of my cleaning products with him. They are going to pop into see his sister too apparently. So i'm sitting here thinking there ought to be a card there from my daughter who died when she was a baby.... then i get to think of my own Mother. She's treated me appallingly in the past but she's still my Mum and i still miss her.
Today isnt the day that i need to be left on my own. Still, emotionally i'm strong and ive just polished off about 8 Throntons chocolates courtesy of my youngest daughter. I feel stuffed now.
Anyone got snow? We have soft snow flurries here and its super cold outside but i'm warm and cosy.

Hey everyone
Hope you're all having a good day, and either treating the important ladies in your lives or enjoying being treated by your families.
Not seeing my mum this year, we've booked a day out in the first week of the Easter break so will go out and have some fun there. Sent her a card and present from myself and my sister, and she's taking my grandma out for lunch today.
Busy morning here, bathroom and kitchen cleaned, been through the fridge too wiping down and putting things into the freezer. Repotted the seedlings, and about to start marking last week's stack of homeworks... Leftovers of some variety for tea tonight and tomorrow ngiht, will grab something out of the freezer in a little while for those. Moving on to tidying the lounge in a bit, and maybe hoover the bedroom too - depends on how long the marking ends up taking!
Enjoy whats left of the weekend

We've had our roast lamb, DS has been delayed & won't get here til 9ish, so I've plated up a roast dinner for him, he can have it when he gets here.
I've also done extra veg ready for tomorrow, sausage & mash & Tuesday beef casserole, so a lazy few days for me.
I've done the ironing for next week too, so we're all ready for next week when hubby is on the early shift & we have a 5:30 start.
Hugs Hester
