    So to me, thats a need, I wouldn't be able to get to work without it. Without work, I could not live. Same for most families in the country, take the car away and the whole country would fall to it's knee's within a day.

    So kinda does make sense now, couldnt understand it before! So thanks!

    It costs you £175 a month for you just to get to work. It costs me £320 for the whole year to get to work!

    You sound like you need a car, but the majority of people I know, particularly near where myself and studentphil live, could manage perfectly well without one.

    we do have a car, my husband doesn't have to pay for parking at work though. i don't have a car, i walk.

    the only tax credits we get is the £42 per month that everyone gets, nothing more than that, and no help with childcare if i got a job.

    my husband has to repay his student loan but i'm not repaying mine.
    Not if your under 25. Not everyone gets it:mad:

    A car is a big cost but it also brings untold freedom in your life. However, sometimes in life you just have to accept you can afford a car even though it has huge advantages,

    Living with you parents is fine and cheap but you do reach a point in life where you want to do your own thing and have your own space.

    Well I take home £1k a month and am putting £500pm into regular savings, so I must be managing on £500pm!

    Expenses are (everything halved with my boyfriend);
    Rent £250
    Council tax
    Proud to be a moneysaver! :cool:
