Why aren't we allowed to mention them in particular? Brand names seem to be mentioned all the time on this Forum without worry. Just curious
I really don't understand where this is coming fromI'll be brave, Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda, Waitrose, Co-Op, Safeway, Summerfields. There I've done it:D And I'll bet a million pounds nobody comes along and deletes this post.;)
TBH I think a custom of saying MrT etc as a form of shorthand grew up, and then some people have thought we have to use code and not say the full name.

Where am I going wrong?? I was lucky enough to be given a nearly new BM on Freecycle complete with all the measuring cups etc but I haven't had much success
I am very careful at following the measuring instructions etc but have never had a perfect loaf.
1) mixing blade is always wedged in the bread making it pretty difficult to use bread from the midde for sarnies etc.
2) There is always a part of the bread (in the middle and varying in size) that is not properly cooked so can only use the outer bread.
I tried to make a cake in it the other a day (my oven doesn't cook evenly anymore) and was furious to find I had wasted 3 eggs and goodness knows what else and the flamin thing came out like a ton brick with gloop in the middle!
So now it sits accusingly on the worktop taking up loads of space and I am scared to use and waste more time and ingredients. Any ideas please?
I did get a nice reply to this but the poster wasn't able to offer much advice re the actual BM. JUst wondering if any other BM users can help otherwise its looks as tho mine will be consigned to the bin :eek:Stop looking for answers....

It sounds broken to me! Maybe that's why it was on freecycle... Have you been around while it's in motion? Does it do a really vigorous dancing act once or twice during the cycle (like serious rumbling and churning and shaking etc.)? Another way to test would be to add some food colouring in the liquid and see whether the colour spreads accross your loaf. Maybe the paddle isn't turning properly?
What make is it? There may be a customer helpline on the company website - they are often helpful and some companies advise on what parts you may need to replace and a few even send you the parts for free! Otherwise, it sounds like a dud so watch out for another one on freecycle or try making by hand or in food processor. I find the fp really easy to use and I only have one gadget to wreck instead of two! And I found the bm annoying and noisy in the night...

how sad. It was all bright and shiny when I got it, no sign of wear or anything and I beleived the lady when she said it had only been used a couple of times. But I suppose she could have dropped it or something and neglected to mention the fact
Its a Morphy Richards so I will check them out for help.
Of course I can't now remember what noises it makes apart from the first sort of churning noise which always makes the dog whine and bark :rolleyes:
and I don't know that I fancy wasting more stuff (after my cake making debacle) to find out that's it duff if you know what I mean.
Unfortunately I can't use the oven for baking as it no longer cooks through (no idea why) so can't make bread any other way.
So, will try MP and if no joy back to Freecycle.

Thank you so much you have all inspired me to dust off my breadmaker. I do understand what the person meant when the said the blade wedge into the bread. I've decided to just do the dough setting and cook it in the oven. I'll let you know how I get on.

It was much better just using the bread maker for dough making and then baking it in the oven. It was so good, I probably ate lots more than I would of shop bought bread. I going to make my son some bread sticks tomorrow.

For me the point of making my own bread at home is that I control the quality of my bread. I can alter the amount of sugar (nearly always too much by 20% in bread recipes) and I can add ingredients as and when I feel the need. I can't face bread wrapped in plastic or handled on supermarket shelves. may be fussy, but there's no harm in being fussy. Peace, bread and love!!!0

If you use Lidl Bread flour 48p it's so much cheaper and it does not go green like shop bread does these days....My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

If I am feeling lazy I tend to use the tesco bread mixes (55p) and I get two good sized round loaves out of a pack. I don't use a tin but divide the dough in half and shape into rounds or ovals which i place on a flat baking tray. We generally have these with home made soup or stew and just tear chunks off. For using for packed lunches I make rolls instead of loaves as it's easier that trying to cut slices for sandwiches.0
