Electricity bicycles

Yes indeed, very handy for the disabled and mobility problems.
I'm assuming J.C is healthy/and non-disabled with no mobility problems as travelling around 15 miles each day to work and back.
So if I was a fit/healty young guy riding a 15mph electric scooter to work and back and was passed by some old dears/boys on shoppers i'd feel a bit silly.
It was just the link you gave was for an electric scooter that's limited to 15mph and weights around 10 stone. If the battery went or electrical problems etc in our often wet weather would make it a nightmare to get it home if disabled/mobility problems.
I agree thas why i like the electric folding bike like the solex which my mate lent me.
It meant i could go on holiday for the first time in ages and get around in the fresh air.Child of a Fighting Race.0 -

I have riden more powerful ebike abroad and when trying the legal limit UK bike they are rubbish, I always want to peddle faster than the motor so no need for the motor at all. But I really want a more powerful ebike.
I would like to import from the USA a motiv spark.

The pound is very strong against the US$
But how do I go about taxing and insuring because its over the legal limit?0 -
It would need to be type approved and registered, presumably as a moped to allow it to be used on the road.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0

What is this 'street cred' people are mentioning?
Is it something to do with when people on plush road bikes and all the team/designer kit fail to acknowledge you when they pass by? :unsure:0 -
What would happen if its not like that? Could I not just register whatever it is.
USA ebike are so much better than ours, they really have power.
There are only certain classifications of vehicle for road use. If your ebike is higher powered than permitted, then it may be a moped if it fits that category. It may have to be a motor bike if the speed is too high.
Ebikes are limited by law because they can then be treated like pedal cycles. If they are more powerful they need to have reg plates, tax and insurance.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -
What is the legality of a motorised ebike in the UK?
