    Hi all,

What channels do you get if you cancel Sky but have the Sky box? Is it freeview?

No its Freesat from Sky if you leave the Sky card in or similar to Freesat if you remove it. Remote the card and see.

With the card about six channels are FTV, the rest FTA. Without the card only FTA.

What's the difference between FTV and FTA?

    I will have the card.

    I will have the card.

Ones free to view (card required) and the other is free to air.

The following website gives some good info on your options including which channels are FTV.

Do Sky normally take back the card if I cancel? Why can't I keep it?

No they don't take the card, if you default on a payment they may cancel it but that's it.

No they don't, who said they did?

However if you read the back of the card:

"This card is the property of Sky Subscribers Services Ltd and must be returned upon request"

Sky have in the past sometimes reissued the viewing cards, but they don't request them back on termination of contract. If so, you'd have to pay a one off fee to replace it.
But I think this has only been done a couple of times since Sky commenced broadcasting.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
