I would like to watch West World on Atlantic. I believe that is available on Now TV entertainment package? Is there another option?
    I don't want Sky

Yes its available on Now TV.

There might be another way to watch it but it requires ordering a firestick and some installation.

I'm just learning to use our Smart tv features having cancelled Sky, too. I-player seems much smoother than on the pc and with catchup and the +1 channels you can watch programmes which are originally broadcast at the same time.

We have a Humax twin tuner box, but I haven't had need to set it up yet.

So far the learning has been to get our son to do it for us. But seems simple to use, only complaint is you do not get a listings view. But the catch up tv is really useful

What do you mean by a listings view ? Our tv can be altered to give all channels at a specific time or the whole days listing for a specific channel.

I am sure most if not every(?) smart TV has a programme listing view. What make and model is yours?
In response to your previous question. Netflix is great for kids movies. We find a better choice of adult movies on Amazon Prime. Sky movies are available via NOW TV.

But that might involve a little bit of theft?

Since Westworld is only legally available on Sky or Now TV in the UK

I'm going to be moving house soon and I am wondering if I really need my Virgin TV package. I have a landline and broadband and a basic TV package + a Tivo Box.

Can I get a digital recorder which does the same job as my Tivo Box? I have access to a lot of channels but I only watch a few. I don't care about a movie package or sports.

I suspect I could save a lot of money by ditching the TV package and subscribing to Netflix.

I also know people who have some kind of device where they can access everything but they don't have to pay. Is this legal?

    Any advice would be welcome.

If you mean pause/record etc then yes. You would only get freeview channels though with an aerial, or Freesat channels if you get a dish. You'd have to look into which option would be best for you.

What do you mean by everything? If you mean free to air channels then yes it is legal. If you mean channels you would normally have to pay to view, then I think the answer to that is pretty clear! If you could get them for free legally then why would anyone pay for them?

Humax now do a series of boxes (3 colour ways and 3 hard drive sizes) which will record 4 programmes at once (subject to some restrictions) and have a new catchup which they claim is more advanced than Youview.

I've looked at the black and brown or white and brown, but prefer the all black box. However, this one, which is 2tb is only available direct, will not be retail (they advised me) and so is not subject to reductions via such retailers as Richer Sounds or John Lewis.

Whether you need a package depends entirely on what TV you like. There are alternate non contract ways of getting some premium channels such as Now (Sky1, Atlantic, Living, Fox and others) and TV player plus (History, H2, Forces TV and others viewable via prime devices- Watch, Alibi and others viewable via mobile devices and screen mirroring). Though you would have to use multiple devices for these. Netflix content is different to TV package content it has some things such as the recently promoted "The Crown" which is only available there.
For me there is little point to the basic TV package on Virgin unless you have difficulty getting a free view signal.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
