Sellers only need recorded if they believe every buyer is a scammer, most of us run businesses and know that is not the truth so are happy to merely protect ourselves against loss.

If all buyers are scammers then none of us would be selling online.

My cut off point for POP as been £10 - then i send recorded.

When the new £20 POP limit comes in - i will probably use that as the cut off. Will you be sending items over £20 recorded now - or just continue as you are?

Clearly the lower POP limit is designed to sell recorded more.

I agree - most ebayers are honest. Just annoying when serial scammers get away with it - like this one:-

techspec, you should report that user to eBay trust and safety, if you have been personally affected by this person you will possibly even get a 25 pound voucher.

The post office should print the address and weight of the item onto the receipt, it shouldn't be handwritten.
That's completely wrong, and misleading on a thread like this.

I just thought I would add, haven't read all of posts but, proof of postage means nothing to eBay, if the buyer says it didn't get there ebay would want tracking numbers and proof of postage would not be enough to cover u for costs etc, and they would give the buyer there money back even if the buyer was pulling a fast one, personally with over 1000 feedback, everything gets sent recorded wether it costs £2.50 or £40 that extra 90p is a god send xx
Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec

That is one of my pet hates about the PO. Trying to get a proof of postage out of some of the staff can be hard bloody work. I sometimes wonder if they are on commission to sell more expensive insured services and resent the free proof of postage cover?

Even if yiou get them to do it, alot will just print them off with no indication which parcel they are linked to. Writing a post code takes what? 10 seconds. It is so unreasonable to expect post office staff to do their job properly?
First of all, you don't get to decide what is "properly" as you have little knowledge of what the job entails. Brings to mind the Harry Enfield "you don't want to do that".
The job is to ensure the people behind you get a good service also. Not waiting an extra ten minutes while someone wants individual pofs for their ebay tat is a start If you are too lazy to prepair a proof of postage, as linked on this thread, then you are making other people wait unnecesssarily.
The number of ebayers who ask for "a little bit of sellotape" for their parcel, free of course, or want various prices for posting around the world prior to listing, is on the increase.

Most of my items are sub £20 so I won't change, I may not bother with tracking if items go for more (within reason) as so much of my stuff isn't covered anyway as it is china or glass.

I will have to see how it goes.

No one at all has suggested that POP will win a seller a PayPal or eBay claim for INT, it will however enable a seller to reclaim their loss from RM if item is lost. Recorded also will not do you any good either though unless it actually updates online to prove delivery, and in many areas a great many never update at all ?

If you believe every buyer is a scammer why do you still sell on eBay? Come the new rates with recorded being so much more expensive my sub £20 items are going to be so much cheaper than yours, so I can only encourage all my competitors to use recorded as it really helps my business thank you.

You need to read the postage sticky. Perhaps read the RM site too, RD is 95p soon to be £1.10.
