So lots of quotes Karthee, chance for you to make them dance.
    £100 an hour is £5000 a week.

Still waiting to see your sums i.e.
    £150 inc. materials.

The RGI should be paid for the diagnosis or do you think we should work for nothing? Shame on you then.

Hmm...are you sure about that? After reading your post, I recalled your thread from last autumn here.

I think the word BUSTED comes to mind :rotfl:

£20 an hour seems a reasonable wage, £1000 a week.
2 hours plus the fan £50 or £90 is £130 max.
I must admit to having trouble getting tradesmen in this small town. I reckon I'm on a list. LOL.
Until the word 'numpty' appeared I thought this was a reasonable discussion.

It has already been established that the fan (which of 4 it might be we don't know) would cost neither your suggested £50 or £90 for a genuine Ideal part.

In reference to your wage calculations either sharpen your pencil or get new batteries for your calculator.

I wouldn't doubt it. Every tradesman has one especially in a small town. We certainly do.:D

there you go again, where on earth does this 50 hr WORKING week come from ?
we have to drive to your house, we have to drive back, we have to drive to the merchants to pick up the fan, so if we said 30 mins there 30 mins back & an hour picking up the fan plus an hour changing the fan thats 3 hrs, so you want us to work for two hrs @ £20 p/h = £40 minus £10 petrol which equals £10 p/h for a fully skilled self employed heating engineer with all the costs involved in being self employed, no wonder you can't get anyone to work for you, maybe you want us to pay you for the pleasure of working in your house.

you have already been told the fan could be £170 + vat

Mmm. Your posts have been rather provocative though. I hesitate to accuse you of being deliberately provocative so I won't but but have to state that, to my mind, they are.

Oh and by the way if £ 1,000 a week is a sensible wage to you (although as others have pointed out that's about as far removed from reality as you can get not what it is) how long did your shower take to fit with its associated bill of £ 1,700? If that was the labour cost that was well OTT for the work you described but was apparently reasonable but £ 250 to replace the fan isn't then you clearly have absolutely no idea. :D

    No offence.

    Cheers
