That's about the going rate.
I wouldn't fit a customer supplied fan as I couldn't offer any guarantee.
Also there are 4 different fans for Ideal Classics, depending on which model you have.0 -
So, labour £200 for say two hours work.0

The fitter wouldn't be able to give a quote if he hadn't diagnosed the fault, so get a competative quote, Karthee. Starting price, because it has alraedy been diagnosed should be £150 inc. materials.0

How have you ascertained that figure of £150.00? We don't know which Ideal Classic FF250 boiler therefore don't know which fan needs to be purchased. The OP states he/she can get the fan for £50 less: would that be a new genuine Ideal part or a reconditioned or gray market fan? Perhaps he/she could enlighten us.
Most RGIs would be charging an attendance fee/diagnostic fee or a call out charge for the visit to the OP's property.
As G4you has said, we wouldn't fit or guarantee a customer supplied fan either, especially a reconditioned or gray market product.:eek:0 -
Ideal Classic fans range from about £95 to £170 both plus VAT, so I don't know where you get £200 labour from.0

My gas fitter who came to do the annual service said that work is short, except for safety jobs and compulsory tests.
So lots of quotes Karthee, chance for you to make them dance.
£100 an hour is £5000 a week.0 -
I had the fan on my Ideal Classic FF260 replaced last summer. The GSR HE also gave it a service and serviced the gas fire at the same time for £160. The fan actually failed very shortly after and he replaced it free of charge and whilst here he did say it was an Ideal fan but very occasionally they are faulty. I've been told that was a very cheap price all in, though he doesn't charge VAT. It was the first time we'd had him to do work, on our neighbours (his friend)recommendation so don't know if that was why he was cheap.
No problems since.0 -

I bet trades just love working for you.
Another numpty who hasn't got a clue, according to you work is short but you still think the RGI is WORKING for 50 hrs a week & earning £100 an hr, DIY & G4you have already told you the fan could be nearly £200 on it's ownI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
