He can a bit Beanie but his left side is very weak from the brain bleed. I make him get out and push it every so often which helps his walking slightly.

So we ended up going in town for a coffee. Can't believe we waited 25 minutes for a bus, we'd just missed one and it was Sunday service. We took the wheelchair, my arms are still aching. I thought the brakes were on but they weren't he's just so heavy.

I was led astray in Debenhams and bought a bag and dress with 20% off plus extra 10% for cardholders, then used a £6 voucher I had. Don't regret it though as both are lovely.

    Then we went for lunch.

So another spendy day. Not the best start to the month but back to normal tomorrow.

It was nice to be out actually, don't think I could've spent another day at home with Mr SA.

Embarrassing moment on the bus when I didn't recognise a woman who obviously knew me very well. During the course of the conversation the penny dropped, we'd been really good friends many years ago. Didn't realise she only lives a couple of roads away. I've not seen her around but she's seen me. I think I must go round with blinkers on!

Hope everyone has enjoyed the bank holiday.

The builder, plumber and electrician came out again tonight. Quotes should be coming through this week and it looks like work can start in 3-4 weeks. Fingers crossed.

Physio tomorrow, might see if they will discharge me as I don't honestly see what good it's doing. They yank my ankle about then go through a few exercises, then that's it for 3 weeks. I think by carrying on with the gym and walking more I'm doing it myself.

    AFD 1/8 tonight.

Would it be worth looking at a mobility scooter or powered chair for when you're out and about? We had the same issue in wheelchair was just to heavy for me (plus I have bad wrists and elbows) and DH can't self propel due to his neck and shoulder problems. We have small mobility scooter that goes in the car, it comes to bits to fit in the boot but as my arms were playing up lifting it in and out we now have a hoist and just need to press a couple of buttons and it's in or out and ready to use. We also have a larger scooter that he can use around the village which is more comfy.

Shop mobility places have them to hire when you're in town so maybe have a go and see what he gets on with.

Thanks Pooky. He has a mobility scooter but it's too big to fit on the bus. Normally I'd walk and he'd go on the scooter but my ankle isn't quite up for it at the moment. It's mainly the walking to and from our bus stop he struggles with, it's too far for him to walk. There is the possibility of using a shopmobility scooter in town, I could wheel him to and from bus stop and he could leave the chair if they let him. It shouldn't be too long until I'm back up to walking into town again though.

Hooray I've been discharged from physio :):) I mentioned I've been struggling with shoes that don't support my ankle, tried some flat sandals for work yesterday but struggled walking in them. He said ideally the sandals need to have a small heel. So more money spent today on a pair of trainers that support ankle (for walking to work in) and sandals with a small heel to keep at work. Hopefully that combination should do the trick, I can't keep on wearing ankle boots for much longer.

Very proud of myself this morning - my bus was coming and I had to run to catch it - yes I ran!!!! Not very fast or elegantly but I did it. Felt like I was walking on air after that - makes you appreciate the little things when you've had them taken away.

Tomorrow I will break it to Mr SA about having to go to London next week. He's not going to like it. Wish me luck.

Forgot to add one quote came in today for kitchen £5,500. This is for all the units, work tops, oven, dishwasher, sink, cooker hood. Our kitchen is quite big so I think this is fairly reasonable. However, this doesn't include fitting.

Going to be an expensive refurb but got to be done.

Yes, good luck breaking the news to MrSA. Have you thought out solutions to all his possible objections beforehand?
