Good news on Mr SAs health, and with carer/Mr SA working on the garden preparation that will save time and money. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

Hello folks!
Skip didn't turn up yesterday, rang the company they had no record of the order. Was fuming as they took the money out of bank. Got it sorted eventually and it came this morning. We (mostly me!!!!) filled it within an hour. Mr SA mainly leaned on it supervising me where to put things. Got a feeling I'll be a bit achy tomorrow. Materials for patio arrived shortly after skip so we're just waiting for the gardener now.
Boiler broke down yet again. British Gas came out to repair it but told us what we already know - it's beyond repairThey managed to resuscitate it but it's not right. Engineer said we don't just need a new boiler the whole system needs replacing ££££££££££££££
Getting someone to quote on Monday but I wouldn't be surprised if we're looking at about £5k.
The plan this year was to remortgage to pay for home improvements but I can't do anything until I get my permanent contract from work which hasn't materialised yet. I can't go to bank as it stands right now as I've got nothing in writing. As far as they're concerned I'm on a contract until October then what? To be honest I'm a bit peeved with the manager at work yet again as she is trying to change my job role without consulting anyone least of all me. I'm a PA and she's decided the people I PA to are no longer entitled to a PA. They are fuming as they need me and we'd built up a good rapport. Things are going to come to a head next week when manager officially tells them. Talk about light the blue touch paper. I don't know how this manager gets away with it as she is several grades lower than the people I work for. Believe me where I work there are a lot of very senior people - senior civil servants and high grades, they are all lovely and really down to earth - it's the lower grades who are the worst!

Of course Beanie - I got my usual no numbers on last night's Euro millions so don't hold your breath
Been looking into doing AAT course today. Looks right up my street, I love numbers and spreadsheets. Would be good for my career. Work might pay for it, they encourage this sort of thing.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
So I didn't win anything on the lottery. Surprise surprise. Sorry Beanie.
Quote from British Gas was £6k!!!!!! Just haven't got this sort of money. Obviously I'll get some more quotes but I can't do anything yet even if the quotes are lower. Getting fed up of waiting to get my work contract sorted now.
Patio is taking shape nicely. Mr SA says he's really enjoyed being around work-type things again, he's really perked up.
Work-wise - I've had a word with the right people re manager upsetting everyone and I've been assured she will be spoken to and reigned in.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Paid less than half of that for mine about 3 years ago.

Thanks Beanie, I knew the BG quote would be over the top. As soon as I can I'll start shopping around for a better price. Feel a bit stuck at the moment.
Less than a week after payday and I am skint. Fortunately Mr SA gets his money on Monday so we'll survive. He seems to think we've got a bottomless pit of money, coming up with more work for the gardener. There's plenty for him to do but finances dictate it has to be done in stages. One positive is that the credit card is clear so keeping on top of that thankfully.
Downloaded 2 apps - 30 Day Squat Challenge and 30 Day Abs Challenge. Started both yesterday and intend to do every morning. Also started back at Zumba after work today. Am also getting back on track with the alcohol free days and today is number 2/12.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Well done on the exercise and AFDs :T.
Do you not qualify for any boiler installation discounts with Mr SA's benefits/conditions etc? XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Hi Sun addict.
Ive been lurking on your diary for a while now but im not usually one to post.
I just wanted to comment on the boiler cost.
Ours has given up the ghost also and we have someone coming out this weekend to replace.
It's costing £1490 to replace like for like (Ariston combi for Worcester combi)
The boiler was about £1100 and he charges £400 to fit it.
We have bought NEST and he says that he can fit that aswell.
We don't require any work re the rads though like you but i know when we had a whole new system put in (boiler, rads, pipework - everything) in our last place it was about £2k (mind you that was a few years ago)
£6k from BG is extortionate .
Also on another note the AAT course is fab.
I did all three levels at college two evenings a week and really enjoyed it. I'm now doing ACCA.1
