Hello, just popping in to let you know that I've subscribed, and looking forward to catching up with this thread later :wave:0

Hmmm. Join me in the conservatory SA - or opening a window upstairs so I can breathe.
Tough to hear him talk like that.
For me with Mum it kinda goes that I either listen (and risk getting miserable too) distract with tv or some plans or food or the dogs! or come up with a solution. Routine is so important I think. Currently on holiday Mum is a bit lost and prone to worrying actually so am I!
I don't suppose it is the same for brain injury situation tho.
big hugs. At least if the weather is bad he won't want to go out wandering XXXXNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Hello all
Thanks for your suggestions Robin - I've been thinking about thermals for him actually so need to pick him some up.
Well today the claim for PIP has been registered on the phone so the next step is filling in the form when it comes. The bloke I spoke to was very helpful. Still have the carer finance form to fill in and a form to exempt him from prescription charges. He's been very tired and cold today. His face looks flushed but he hasn't got a temperature. Hope he's not coming down with something. We took the dog on the park after lunch but he didn't want to stay long. And not only is the house boiling hot but he's constantly watching Top Gear and Storage Hunters - he's obsessed! He's finally getting around to looking at the Kindle I bought him for his birthday back in April. However, there was a scary moment when because of his shaky hands somehow he managed to buy a £39.99 wi fi gadget thing (not sure exactly what it was) by mistake from Amazon. Got an email saying thank you for your order and thought what - fortunately managed to cancel it! Phew! He had no idea he'd done it. Have now taken off the 1 click ordering.
Went to local shops this morning - can't believe I spent over £20 on a top up shop when I only had a £70 Asda delivery on Boxing Day! This will have to stop! Some of the things I bought will do a few meals though. There's certainly nothing wrong with Mr SA's appetite!
Weather was beautiful today very pleasant in the sun. Shame we couldn't have taken the dog for a really good run on a bigger park or for a day by the coast. Hate not being able to drive. Need to put this on my to do list for 2014 finances permitting.
Took down the Christmas decorations and had a good clean up. Packed all the boxes away and as always happens on the way back from the park noticed a decoration in the living room window! Something always gets left out every year.
Back at work for the day tomorrow. Will sort of be glad when things are back to normal work wise as all these odd days working are throwing me out. Will have a proper look at finances tomorrow when back in work mode. Got all my spreadsheets on my work computer so always out of kilter when I'm not there.
So today still got to make my lunch for work tomorrow, sort out my work bag, ring Virgin, fill in those forms, have a run on treadmill, take dog out for her last walk, prepare evening meal and do Mr SA's curry for tomorrow. Have had a quick look at gas and electric comparison and looks like I could save some money there.
Must go now as Mr SA has just got up from his nap and wants a shower.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Decided to kill two birds with one stone re running and dog walking and ran with the dog round the block. On the way back I saw a bloke staggering about looked like a drunk in front of me so slowed down a bit to let him get ahead of me. Then he staggered across the road nearly getting run over. Imagine my horror when I got closer and realised it was Mr SA!!!! He had followed me. He must've got dressed quick because I had only been out 10 minutes. The annoying thing is when we're going out in the morning it takes ages to get him ready. I had left him sitting in front of the TV in his dressing gown. He had also left the door unlocked! He claims he was worried about me but I really think he thought I was on a secret assignation. Told him I was very cross with him for doing this but he didn't really understand. It's like having a child to look after. Can really see why he needs a carer. The carer was initially told he'd be needed for 6-9 weeks but I can't see he's going to improve that quickly and the carer thinks the same.
Fed up - especially as under normal circumstances we would be in Lanzarote nowI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Blimey that is very worrying for you SA.

Oh My God SA.
That must have been a massive bloody shock!
Holy Crap.
Am at a loss to suggest what to do.
I suppose he may not have any idea of a the time - you know how long you have been? maybe he gets panicky on his own?
cuddle the dog, I think you should keep a log (unless this would be difficult in front of Mr SA) of things like this to make it clear to Social services the carer will need to stay.
When does he next go to Doctors? Are there reviews?
xxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Oh hun I'm so sorry. Definitely make a note of all this stuff, make sure any Doctors/Consultants are aware and use examples like that on any DWP forms you get. Do you have anyone that can sit with him when you have to go out with the dog etc and the carer isn't there? XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

.
I think your Mr SA is having words with my DD - she is now wanting to watch Storage Hunters all the time:rotfl: but she is 11yrs old!
We got her a Kindle for her birthday and I don't like the way you have to add a card straight away. Could you change the card details to one which does not have money in as well?
 to Mr SA following you.
I agree with the other poster who said about him having no concept of time - if you can't get someone to sit with him can you leave him a timer so that he stays in the house until the timer goes off and if you are not back then he can leave to find you (but of course you will be back by then)0 -
Happy New Year!
 to Mr SA joining you and the dog for a run! I had to turn off the 1 click thing on my account too as i have accidentally ordered things too!
