The buggies was actually brand new . In last years show it actually showed you the wife looking at them. I shared mine to 3 kiddies and is still in amazing condition after 13 years.
They are on tv tho so you could find they get alot of items given to them or with a high discount.DEC GC £463.67/£450
EF- £110/COLOR]/£10000 -
The fact is that 'they' can not afford 16 kids.
We, the tax payers obviously can."I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0 -
I'm watching it on 4OD. Wow...
I cannot believe the state of the second family's house, it's absolute chaos! Stuff everywhere, boxes of clothes all over the place....I don't know how they can live like that. I'm quite messy myself, but jeeesus...that's messy on an entirely new level!
Also going to Ikea for furniture is madness. With so little money, they should get it from charity shops or freecycle really. Although it's a moot point, because there is nowhere to put it!0 -

I doubt anybody could afford 16 kids (possibly lottery winners!)
They must get a huge tax credit allowance. I remember a thread on here recently with a couple with a couple of kids and he ran his own business and they were clearing just under 9 grand a year in tax credits and they only had 2 kids! When you actually look at the amounts available in tax credits you might get a shock (i certainly have!):heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Our company turns over around £120k per annum, of which around £60k is straight profit. I'd love to know how many kids we'd have to have before tax credits kick in.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Shocking, thoughtless attention seekers.
Oh no they don't. "After their mortgage, their food bill is the biggest expense" according to the programme. So we know they're spending £250 per week on food. That's £1083 per month. Say their mortgage is only a whisker more at £1100. That's £26k per year. You think they manage to cover that plus clothes, school trips, birthdays, Christmas, travel, utilities etc on £38k income (from the bakery and child benefit)?
Bullsh1t.
I found it most shocking that as a baker he was making their sandwiches with yucky plastic bread.
Also how many of the 16 kids are over 10? The current tax credit didn't come in until April 2001 and afaik, the previous one wasn't as generous. I remember when it came in because Miss Spendless was boen only days before it came in and I remember the fun of trying to get thru to add her to my claim.:rotfl:0 -
Is their mortgage likely to be as much as that? I'm not saying it isn't, I don't know. The blog says they bought it 12 years ago, where I live house prices hadn't risen at that time. I know because we bought in 2001 and I rented out my old home instead of selling as it was in negative equity.

Mortgage would have to be that much to cost more than their food bill.
No idea about the tax credits, but wondering why he wasn't locked up - 2/3 of the kids were born before she turned 16!!!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
