"16 Kids and Counting" - how do they afford it?

Posie from the Mormon family should have been enough contraception to put them off having anymore!
I found it sad when the older children said it had been 6 years since they had been out for a meal. I think having this amount of children is cruel,as a parent surely cannot give the children enough attention.0 -

If the toddler is still feeding through the night, that could well be why she's struggling to conceive again now.
Divine intervention?!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Did anyone see the latest episode?0

Yup I saw it ... Some lovely weddings, I'm going to assume channel four pay good expenses to the families. Even on our incomes we couldn't afford the lanzarote vow renewal.
I love the programme though - very insightful
I'm sticking to one child though - I can't afford more... One is expensive enough! If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -

I've only seen a couple of episodes but I really find it hard to get my head round why anyone would want so many children.
This week's wedding episode: the Scottish family seemed to have a particular problem with the children's behaviour. I couldn't help thinking that the boys (maybe because they only had the two?) were allowed to get away with anything. And while the parents were genuinely pleased that the eldest daughter was getting married, it was sad the way she had been expected to be 'little mother' and that the next eldest (although still at school) felt obliged to step in.
The baker's family are better behaved but I'm not sure about the wedding blessing. I think they were all happy to be going on holiday. The dad seemed to be managing the boys' behaviour far better than the mum with the girls. But when they got to the blessing there seemed to be no sense of occasion and the children didn't even seem to be paying attention to the ceremony.0 -
I agree, the boys behaviour was shocking and seemed a cry for attention.
I wonder how many will go on to have more than 1 or 2 children themselves... As most seemed to dislike being in a large family.
I couldn't have so many - I'd lose the plot!If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
I find it really bizarre, I would never cope with going away with 16 kids! Feel bad for older kids that are expected to look after younger ones too, they didn't choose to be mums.0
