:eek:at the woman who's buys new socks for everyday. They had a huge food budget too with all that takeout and eating in the pub.
I didn't like that woman with all the teenage girls in that episode and was shocked that the children were still in with their parents at age 9 ish.Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0 -

We were howling with laughter at the sock thing! My poor youngest has ALL her sister's hand-me-downs... including socks (but baby socks hardly get worn anyway)... and I'm dreadful at washing but still manage to get 99% of the white socks that go in the machine to come out the same colour!
Know the area sock-woman lives in rather well - suspect it's the council ward a relative is the local councillor for!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Lol at the sock thing to how strange.. and she doesn't cook often all takeaway or the pub across the road. Dunno how thay afford the food bit though eating out is expensive let alone with all them kids.Ignore reality. There's nothing you can do about it.

Hardly a fair comparison given contraception was not available until the 1960's and abortion was illegal.
The pill came in then, in the 1960s. Contraception predated that by a lot - Marie Stopes was writing about other forms of contraception around the time of the First World War, for example.
I do know, though, that a doctor could be struck off or imprisoned in the 1860s for giving contraceptive advice.
In terms of abortion, I think that there was a lot of illegal abortion before the 1960s. There were the terrible butchers, sadly, and a lot of girls and women died.
But there were also compassionate GPs who helped women / girls who were their patients, to "restore their normal menstrual functions"....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
i am enjoying the programmes and admire the way the parents cope...im not keen on the no bedtimes regime some of them adopt madness in my opinion
i thought the sock thing was rater odd and costly in the longterm oh and the eating out...too unhealthy for my liking never mind costing a fortuneonwards and upwards0 -

When we go on holiday, our son (he's 7) shares a room with us. I think he's too young to be on his own in a strange room, really.
When we stay with my parents, he has his own room, that he's used to, but it is a room only accessed via our bedroom....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
They spend almost £2k a year on socks.
On any SOA that's a joke.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Yeah but thats different to them sleeping in the same room as parents all the time. Maybe that's why they had no more after the 7 year old :rotfl:Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0
