I left a neutral when an item arrived with no plug, so I queried whether this was standard....

As far as I'm aware, all domestic electrical equipment is required by law to be supplied with a plug. Unless the item you purchased was exempt for some reason, it ought to be an issue for Trading Standards.

but a big seller like that should be checking and responding almost instantly!

Instantly? That's a fairly unrealistic expectation.

For a company selling hundreds of items a day, a prompt response within working hours shouldn't be tricky

A prompt response within a day would be in line with most retailers I have contacted. "Almost instantly" is a ridiculous expectation.

Yes well clearly I didn't mean literally instantly. No need for twisting of knickers, that wasn't the point of my post. The point is they failed to respond at all, and that just isn't on for a company which is operating through ebay where messaging is quick and simple. Deserves a neutral in my book.
  • The last message he sent said he would like to resolve it with me. I don't know what's to resolve. It was over and done with a month ago. I was only hoping for a postage reduction of about 50p to £1 in the first place, and I'm certainly not trying to get a refund now.

He might be trying to get a message from you that sounds like feedback extortion so he can take it to eBay to get the feedback removed.

Just politely ask him not to contact you any further about the issue.
