Does this suggest the tide is turning on immigration ?

The report doesn't agree with your assertion simply because it doesn't give the population of people from different nationalities in London.
It simply lists the number of individuals who have committed a type of per year broken down by country of origin exclude the UK and a few other countries.
If you don't like the figures I suggest you find your own. Me, I'm off for dinner.0 -

Actually I'm p*ssed of with the lack of understanding of simple data shown by some on this board.
No wonder the media find it easy to manipulate ordinary people and in turn politicians and associated bodies decide ordinary people aren't worth listening to when they complain about something if they can't interpret the data that is already there.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Apparently, her name is Amy Rutland and she is a Labour Party 'regional policy co-ordnator'.
It has been all over the blogosphere so usual the suspects can stop pretending.
It's not the first time the BBC has developed myopia over QT audience members. Some of us still remember the post-911 episode and the disgusting attack on the US Ambassador.
Thanks for confirming this.Just do a little bit of Googling and the light shall shine upon you.
I don't want to post links to sources because most of what I have seen contains her name and, in a couple of cases her address and postcode.
I think she was a daft idiot, but on the other hand feel sorry for her in that she was no doubt put up to it - probably by Mr Twigg whom she had allegedly been working with earlier in the day.
She did seem very angry about something - I actually thought she was going to start foaming at the mouth.
You many not agree with what she says , but she is entitled to express heer opinion. Many people think UKIP are disgusting, largely based on teh extreme views of specific candidates on immigration. Indeed our own PM once told Londoners that UKIP were 'A Bunch Of Fruitcakes, Loonies And Closet Racists' so she is not alone in disliking the party.
As to her selection, its quite normal to select audience members and they are all pre-screened for their political affiliations, and views and the question they wouold like to ask. See:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-17154440
So I think its paranoia to say Twigg put her up to it. The BBC tries to select a balanced audience and this does not preclude political activists (they do not ask applicants about their activities). I recall in the past people saying from the audience that they are a Conservative Councillor or were a UKIP candidate. What is wrong with this? In fact political activists are probably more likely to apply than others I imagine.
If you were an active member of a party and had applied and been selected to appear (or even to ask a question) I suspect you would try and contact the panel member from your party? Well I would!Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

So? Surely it's not unseasonable to assume that you could combine the crime statistics report with known population numbers and come to the ~30% figure.
Those stats are behind media reports such as;
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9896121/Up-to-one-in-three-Romanians-arrested-figures-show.htmlSomeone being arrested then someone actually being charged and then someone being convicted are three very different things especially with more serious crimes. I know people who have been arrested but never charged as they have had a very strong alibis.
Nobody claimed any different. But 30% is an awful lot of arrests.
It doesn't matter which way you spin it, there is a large amount of crime being committed by a particular group of people - you may not like that fact but it is the truth and the truth isn't always popular.0 -
So I think its paranoia to say Twigg put her up to it.
Really?
You're on good form today.

The point is that she was a fake: a Labour party hack pretending to Jane Doe.
The fact that you share her politics appears to be blinding you to the facts.0 -
It wasn't my suggestion. I was simply repeating what's been on the media. It may help you to understand though when you realise that 30% of all Romanians living in London have been found guilty of crime.
Do you have a source for that statement?Here are the stats for that;
http://www.met.police.uk/foi/pdfs/disclosure_2013/feb_2013/2013010000160.pdf
These stats are for arrests not convictions (there is a difference you know!). Also they relate to the UK not just London.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

As I said above, many political activists of left and right have appeared in the QT audience. She did no more than any of them, ask a question. Sometimes the fact someone is an activist comes out in the discussion but not always.
I do not share her politics (as far as I know), but you seem to be very keen to defend UKIP (not the first time I seem to recall) so I assume you support them Which of the categories that Cameron identified do you fit into?:).Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. BiasedBBC.ORG. You can't be serious, are you a member? I have seen it all now :rotfl:'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

Its intersting that this Telegraph Report also assumes that the previously referenced data relate to just London yet the question was about UK. However it does say arrested and not convicted.Some 27,725 Romanians were arrested for offences in London over the past five years, Scotland Yard said, including 10 for murder and more than 140 for rape.
The figures, published under the Freedom of Information Act, will fuel fears of a crime wave when restrictions on workers from Romania and Bulgaria are lifted in January next year.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
Believe it or not, our coppers don't tend to arrest people who have not done wrong, it ties them up in paper work.
If they have to resort to arresting someone, it is usually because they have no choice.
The CPS on the other hand are politically motivated to churn figures.Be happy...;)0
