Does this suggest the tide is turning on immigration ?

This may be the case, that British based workers are not interested.
But for me the issue is that its no good people on Forums like this or Government Ministers complaining about British workers being workshy if genuine opportunities for work experience are denied to them by employers. If they do not apply for them then that is the fault of the benefits system.
Equally Iis is Government policy to encourage those who have not worked for a long period to get work eperience, well this would do nicely in my opinion.
I'm not suggesting that immigrants should be denied the chance to apply, but I think its wrong that Britich citizens are not allowed to apply for them.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
It's a fate shared by Diane James, the Eastleigh UKIP candidate who beat the Tories into 3rd place. She and UKIP were called a "disgusting" party who "prey on the vulnerable in society" by a young lady in the audience, who......as it turns out just happens to be a paid labour party activist "randomly" selected by the labour supporter Dimbelby.
So "random" was the selection that she somehow knew prior to the show that her question was going to be selected and was bragging about it on her twitter page asking all her followers to watch QT.
What a corrupt shambles the BBC is.
I am surprised by the above. If DD is Labour leaning, he is very careful to disguise it, so much so that he appears to me to be right of centre.
As to the exchange about UKIP, what evidence is there that the questioner was a Labour activist? You may be correct but I wonder whatv your source is for this. Either way, disgust is a bit OTT although they do have a few nutters.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Yes absolutely.
I won't ask if you're serious as I already know.
Notice that I didn't actually say that Dimbelby chose the QT audience and the questions they ask - you said that - not me - you are trying to put words in my mouth, you are insinuating I said things that I did not.
But I am saying it was a set up, the girl who attacked Diane James is a paid Labour party activist (this is a fact), and she knew prior to the programme that her question was due to be asked.
The whole QT programme is a sham and full of regular "set ups" - if you cannot see that then you must be missing a few screws.0 -

Just do a little bit of Googling and the light shall shine upon you.
I don't want to post links to sources because most of what I have seen contains her name and, in a couple of cases her address and postcode.
I think she was a daft idiot, but on the other hand feel sorry for her in that she was no doubt put up to it - probably by Mr Twigg whom she had allegedly been working with earlier in the day.
She did seem very angry about something - I actually thought she was going to start foaming at the mouth.0 -

We have a few Romanians and a few Bulgarians working for us, and they've grafted, in one case right the way to the top.

It wasn't my suggestion. I was simply repeating what's been on the media. It may help you to understand though when you realise that 30% of all Romanians living in London have been found guilty of crime.0 -

Here are the stats for that;

British workers could do these agricultural jobs, if they moved in to static caravans with 8 other workers, had no family to support, did not declare income so employers had no tax or national insurance to pay and worked cash in hand for half minimum wage.
The truth is working and living in a country with a family to support requires you to earn a set amount of money or you dont eat, Home living workers have bills, council tax, utilities, children to clothe and feed.
We should be castigating the MP's who are promoting the static caravan immigrant workforce, take the race card from them and stick it firmly up their backsides with a good boot to make sure it stays put.
Any job can become a job "lazy" brits wont do if they can no longer afford to do it.
As for Butlins, anyone who books a holiday with them after this stunt deserves to be the next on the scrap heap.Be happy...;)0 -
I agree that it's not a "lazy Brits" situation. These companies are exploiting foreign workers to the detriment of the British workforce.0

Apparently, her name is Amy Rutland and she is a Labour Party 'regional policy co-ordnator'.
It has been all over the blogosphere so usual the suspects can stop pretending.
It's not the first time the BBC has developed myopia over QT audience members. Some of us still remember the post-911 episode and the disgusting attack on the US Ambassador.0 -

I also agree. I don't dispute (and never have) that there are a number of Brits who abuse the welfare system, but the whole "British are lazy" thing is just utter tripe used as a smokescreen to hide what is really going on - British workers wages being undercut and mass exploitation of migrant workers. In many cases rouge agencies are charging migrant workers hundreds of pounds for job's in warehouses, Polish, Lithuanian and Latvian account managers are hired to deal with them, put them all on minimum wage (or less if they can find a way around it), same people send then direct to a letting agency or to rouge Landlords.
Whilst there is no in depth and hard evidence of all this at the moment - sooner or later it will come out in the wash and some big name companies name's will be embroiled in it all - they will however come out clean as "how could they know what the agencies they were using did"...........0
