I feed a raw diet. It works out cheaper than pet food for me and my 7month pup loves it0

If you want real budget food just buy the supermarkets own make as they exact same quality as the likes of pedigree and whiskers etc but cheaper.
Someone said Wagg thats is good its ok if you on a budget but not a great food for your dog as its full of cereals and grains they can't tolerate. Its quite cheap as Home Bargains £6.99 for 15kg.
The best you can pick up from local Supermarket is Butchers Wet and Dry (Especially Wet Tins). Its around £5 for 12 big cans like 400g+.
I know the wet is avaliable for both dog and cat.
Or Feline Fayre or Hi-Life is also good very cheap Home Bargains its What I feed my cat occasionally when can't afford bulk buy online..
I feed Wainwrights Wet and am generally always on a budget myself. When its on offer you can get 24 trays for £16 and its fantastic probs best on the market especially considering price. I just ordered 4 boxes lol should last me ages. What type of dog do you have? Mine is small breed so only need 1/4 of tray a day.
Its from pets at home if you have one nearby they also do Purely for Cats which is meant to be good.
For a Dry food for your dog then I suggest Skinners Field and Trial Duck & Rice its on Amazon for £22 free delievery 15kg. You need to feed less than the likes of wagg because its better quality. This is the 'Best Budget Food'. Not just my opinion but most people I have came across on different boards.
Or another alternative is Autarky Salmon Dry food for Dogs. Its on offer for £35 delievered and you get 2x15g so 30kg . My partner bought this for his dog (Lab) and the two bags last about 7-8 months and feed just dry food every day. Plus her allergies and ear infection cleared up. Make sure get salmon as chicken version full of Maize (Not good for dogs at all ).
For cat i'd just feed wet mainly as dry isn't very good for them and just put an occasional dry food down if you going to be out long.
Dog i'd mix wet with dry but mainly use the dry kibble as its cheaper so say 60/40. Also I make my own treats with liver from supermarket as its like what £1 for big lot and split it into few bags, freeze and just take a bag out defrost cook and have some treats that last couple days cheap and much better than supermarket treats. You say that your dog is therapy for your son well I find Liver very easy to train dogs with. He may enjoy trying different tricks with the dog (I know I do and my dog is my life lol). Also the cat can eat the liver as well.
Hope been helpful as you say your pets important to you and your family so its best to feed a good but budget friendly food. Its very easy to go for a cheap food but you feed more and all they do is poo most of it out as its full of fillers. Any cooked meat you can get cheap is great to to add to meals.0 -
I don't have a cat, just a dog. For him, I buy the big bags of value chicken pieces (thighs, breast, wings), I cook them all and then boil a pan of vegetables (any left over veg will do too) (except onions -not good for dogs). After taking the bones out of the cooked chicken I add the veg and mash it all up and then divide into daily portions and freeze and then take them out in the morning for his evening meal - ours only has one meal a day. A bit messy! but find it works for me. Hope that helps.
would be better off not cooking the chicken and feeding the whole piece raw

I dont feed my cats wet food anymore, just dried biscuits. I buy from Aldi, its 95p for 950gs there or sometimes you get an offer on go cat, 3 large bags for £10. My cats arent fussy and will eat almost any dried food, apart from one kind that tesco sell called crunchies, they wont touch them. You also sometimes get 3 for 2 quid in poundland for the smaller packs of go cat.0
