I don't have a cat, just a dog. For him, I buy the big bags of value chicken pieces (thighs, breast, wings), I cook them all and then boil a pan of vegetables (any left over veg will do too) (except onions -not good for dogs). After taking the bones out of the cooked chicken I add the veg and mash it all up and then divide into daily portions and freeze and then take them out in the morning for his evening meal - ours only has one meal a day. A bit messy! but find it works for me. Hope that helps.0

Look on line, I get my dog food from petshopbowl.co.uk, free delivery for orders over £19.99. You are prolly paying too much at the supermarket TBH.0

Ask around. Here there is a place where you can get free pet food if you are struggling. You might be able to find where you can get help from RSPCA or PDSA.I believe that friends are quiet angels

if you can buy in bulk on line - this will be cheaper in the long run. there is tons of advice on moneysaving on the pets forum."if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170

Look at the Approved Foods website too, they have a pet food section.0

Lidl have a sack of dog biscuits (complete food) for seven pounds at the moment, and Home Bargains usually have a similar offer.0

Just have to say I use the Orlando dog dried food from Lidl for my Labrador and he is quite sensitive to some foods. That one especially the chicken one suits him very well and lasts almost a month. We add tiny bits of ham, veg, leftover meat or sardines to liven it up. Cats will only eat Whiskas but I buy tins instead of sachets and try to get it on offer. Dried food might be cheaper for them too.£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

I agree on Home Bargains. I have a cat and she loves the Feline Fayre ocean fish in jelly pouches from there which are a bargain 19p.0

Lidl, Aldi and Home Bargains all do very good value pet food.
my sons cat - a very fussy eater, enjoyed the pouches best from Aldi.
and they can eat people food, just be careful not to include onions (cats) or anything with artificial sweeteners (dogs). so if stuck - remember for at least a couple of thousand years dogs and cats were fed on people food (leftovers).
lol - in my experience they prefer to have whatever YOU are having anyway!0
